Yes, I saw your work last night late. Great, great job. Some really
good ideas.
I'm interested in how we would like this to evolve. Do we want to
start actively managing at this point, or let it percolate for a bit
and see how people respond? Certainly, the logistical details need to
start being addressed quickly. I'm wondering if a
Skypecast/Chat/Brainstorm meeting with anyone who wants to give input
might not be a good next step. Some of the ideas that came up just
yesterday (student blogging panel/keynotes, video-conference sessions,
remote participation) were huge.
Another aspect I have been thinking about, though, is that the genesis
for this idea was for edubloggers to have a chance to physically meet
and just relax together and talk--and we may want to think about how
to be careful to retain that. With all the fun things that I think
people are going to think of, we could easily find that we had just
created another session-packed day. Are we looking to create another
ed tech conference, or an edublogger meetup?
Personally, I would like both. Maybe it's worth going back to my
earlier idea of two days: one for edubloggercon and the other for
school 2.0. The question that I have about that is, can we do
something on school 2.0 that will be different than/complementary to
what NECC is about? NECC has been good to us, and I don't want to
steal their thunder; at the same time, I do think there are things we
could do that wouldn't happen easily in the larger conference.
Would love some feedback here.
