Should we expect to see new faces in the US Congress in November?

Here is a quick update on the status of the seats in Congress.

I would like to give you an update of how a volatile this political year is.

In the Senate, we have 14 open seats from 33 up for election. That means that 14 incumbents (7 D and 7 R) are retiring.

In the House of Representatives, from 435 members, 43 incumbents choose to retire (20 D and 23 R).

From the balance remaining who are running for election, 7 incumbents lost in the primaries (3 Senators and 4 House representatives)

From the ones that won the primaries, there are 6 Senators, all democrats that are highly vulnerable incumbents.

In the House, of the ones that have won the primaries, 26 are highly vulnerable (24 D and 2 R).

These numbers vary weekly.
