Position Description:
This architect will define the technical vision for an effective Test Strategy and Architecture across all supported applications.  This individual is a technical leader in the domain of hardware infrastructure, software development, software testing, quality assurance and process improvement.  This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical, software architecture and programming background combined with leadership skills.

Key Functions:

• Drive the effort to design a testing strategy and automation framework with any associated tools and utilities for distributed, highly scalable and high performance test environment(s)..
• Work with the QA team to define the strategy for "next generation" automation testing as well as the creation and execution of a real world plan to implement this strategy. To accomplish this, the candidate must be able to work closely with the Development/Infrastructure teams to understand systems architecture and design and help ensure that testability is built into the software.
• Solve complex technical software/hardware configuration problems across multiple hardware environments.
• Responsible for mentoring existing team members on new technologies and tools.
• Apply excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate their expertise, design solutions, mature the test organization, impact the entire software development life cycle and reduce the total cost of ownership.
• En sure QA Test Case design and execution methodologies are technically sound for all aspects of verification, including functional, structural, regression, load and system testing.
• The Architect will work closely with Development and Testing teams to achieve the right test coverage to ensure quality products, while driving the definition and implementation of metrics to provide meaningful quality measurements and improvements. The Architect will provide leadership to QA Engineers and Leads and may work as a hands-on Test Engineer on complex, cross-functional projects.
• May design database models that support data driven automated testing methodologies.
• Responsible for providing consultation and guidance to Project managers, Business Analysts, clients, Development staff, and QA resources regarding functional and technical test methodologies (including Test Driven Development)
• OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED

Role Requirements:

• Ability to lead, mentor and guide a team of QA Engineers while interfacing effectively with Development and Infrastructure counterparts
• Must be a self motivated and pro-active performer with strong decision making, problem solving and analytical skills.
• In-depth understanding of all stages of software development lifecycle and formal testing methodologies
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Unix Shells and Utilities.  Strong SQL skills
• Ability to troubleshoot software / hardware configuration problems
• Ability to function and interact across teams in a large matrix organization.
• Solid understanding of Functional, Structural, System and Performance testing of distributed, high performance applications desired
• Knowledge of QA best practices, test methods, automation frameworks, tools and/or utilities desired
• Testing automation experience desired
• Experience designing high availability, scalable environments desired
