Hi, everyone.

Jen Henderson, a colleague of mine is part of a research team looking at social media and social networks during Hurricane Sandy. They're looking for participants for their focus groups. If you're interested, or know of groups who might be, her contact is hen...@vt.edu. Details about the project below.
Hope all is well.

Best,
Max

I am part of a research team at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, CO working on a project investigating how people communicated with each other prior to Hurricane Sandy, including how the use of social media and social networks may have influenced how people heard about the storm and how they made decisions in preparations for the storm's arrival, including decisions about evacuation.

We hope to get to know a few communities in the New York area that were highly affected by the storm and conduct focus groups with community members who are interested in talking with us. This is part of a large NSF-funded project that also includes meteorologists. Ultimately, we hope our work will help improve the content and delivery of warning and forecast information for storms like Hurricane Sandy.
