TYPES OF SENSING: BY REV. TIM SHAW

When we are first exposed to the religion of Modern Spiritualism,
immediately we are encouraged to question, to explore, and to define
this faith. We are taught to regard Modern Spiritualism as a religion,
a philosophy, and a science. It is this scientific aspect that is
unique to our belief system. We as believers are encouraged to study
and research the phenomena given to us through spirit communication.

In order to understand our present interaction with our religion, it is
first important to have a grasp of the basic ideology and background
that is associated with the occurrence of phenomena.

One of the basic tenets referred to in the study is, of course,
Telepathy. Briefly, this term, coined by F.W.H. Myers, is used to
describe a "coincidence between two persons' thoughts which require
a casual explanation". Telepathy can take place in the waking,
dreaming or hypnotic states of consciousness. Crisis telepathy has been
found to be the most commonly recorded type of telepathy. Dream state
telepathy was studied at Duke University during the 1930's by Dr.
J.B. and Louisa Rhine. While this "mind to mind" contact is
accepted as fact it does not, however, prove the "continuation of
life" that is the foundation of our religion.

The next aspect of our religious investigation will center upon the
gift of clairvoyance. The definition of this term is "clear
seeing"; the ability to see beyond the natural sense of seeing, and
an "awareness or perception of spirit personalities". Clairvoyance
is actually broken down into two categories: subjective and objective.
Subjective clairvoyance is when spirit manipulates the medium's nerve
center of sight and impresses upon the brain images not seen with the
aid of the physical eye. Objective clairvoyance is where the medium has
been enabled through the "spiritual sensorium" to see spirit beings
and objects through the use of his/her optical centers.

In addition to the aforementioned definitions, other forms of
clairvoyance are:

Cataleptic Clairvoyance - occurs during a trance state; either
self-induced or through a discarnate spirit.

X-Ray Clairvoyance - this form of the gift enables the medium to see
through physical matter and observe internal matter.

Trance Control Clairvoyance - this occurs during the time that the
consciousness of a medium is temporarily subdued.

Telepathic Clairvoyance - this is the subjective perception in the
form of an image or picture of a thought that has been transmitted over
a measurable distance.

Subsequently, we shall now examine the gift of clairaudience. This
concept is defined as "clear hearing" and "extra sensory
information received as sound". This is a rare quality for a medium
to possess. Peggy Barnes Jefts states: "Conditions that are essential
for developing clairaudience are freedom from all material thought,
absolute quiet, and a passive mind in order that one may listen with
the spiritual ear for the higher vibrations of sound coming from
spirit". Ms. Jefts, in addition, does state that "not everyone can
develop clairaudience although each person may have a [particular]
phase of mediumship awaiting development."

The significance of this essay is to understand that while telepathy
may be a repeatable aspect of psychic phenomena, it does not prove the
precept of the religion of Modern Spiritualism which is spirit
continuation. Clairvoyance and clairaudience has been proven to provide
us with the evidence of life after death. It is the proof we who follow
this religion must seek.

REVIEW: I-SIGHT GREEN LED EARLIGHT BY SARAH HIGGINS

During a recent investigation, I had the opportunity to use my newly
purchased RadTech I-sight ear light. With investigation usage
specifically in mind, I selected the model with a green led
bulb-thinking functionally rather than for beauty purposes. ..And Oh!
What a great and worthwhile purchase!

The ear light, as with other models such as those found at Radio Shack
and other electronic stores provides perfect illumination in your line
of sight, based on position of your head. Have glasses? A Bluetooth? No
problem! The comfortable ear hook is customizable and switches easily
from left to right ear with a simple adjustment. With a new battery,
the estimated working life is approximately 36 hours.

Most noteworthy, though, is that RadTech offers this ear light in both
white and green led models. Given the fact that investigators are
continually trying to reduce reflection in their images, the green
light is a terrific tool! Not only does it produce an outstanding
amount of illumination, but it's also scarcely visible during trials
with Sony NightShot Digital Recorders and photographs. Weighing in at
only 18 grams, and costing only $12.95, it's the perfect lighting
tool for anyone working in the field, as well as photographers,
hunters, campers or just about anyone that spends significant time in
dark or dimly lit areas. Check it out at http://www.SPOOKSHOP.org.

RIGHT BRAIN. LEFT BRAIN. BY DWAYNE CLAUD

Theories come about at the most unusual times. You'd all like to
think that they come about at times of great meditation or
brainstorming sessions with associates. But realistically, they come
about when it's the last thing in the world you are considering.

It wasn't long ago when I was getting ready for work one day. I was
just brushing my teeth, thinking about a past paranormal experience,
and a voice whispered in my ear. This had been happening several times
over the past few days, and I turned to my showering wife and asked
her, "Did you hear that voice?" Not an unusual question to ask a
sensitive by any means, and it helps me to keep my own sanity once in a
while if she can validate that she had heard it too. Unfortunately she
hadn't, but this wasn't the first time we had a solo "hearing"
experience.

The first time I ever heard a voice was in an old asylum in New York
State during an investigation. I can still remember kneeling in that
dark hallway with the smell of rotting flesh lofting through the air. I
was conducting an EVP session, and I asked if anyone was there. Clear
as day, I heard over my left shoulder - not really in my ear but behind
my ear - the words, "We are here." It's an experience that has
effected me to this day, and had a similarity to the event while
brushing my teeth - as well as some others in the past. This prompted
me to ask my wife the question, "when you hear voices how do you hear
them?" Her response was, "always on my left side and it began as if
I heard them behind my ear being imparted to me."

A theory was born.

This prompted me to speak with others who demonstrated audible
sensitivities regarding their own experiences. And several common
denominators started to become apparent. For your consideration
consider this theory on sensitivity and the scientific basis behind it.

In an informal survey of people having a degree of sensitivity, all
agreed that when they hear voices, or impressions are given audibly,
they are received by or around the left ear. This brings forth an
interesting supposition. According to research, the left side of the
brain is your critical reasoning. It's logical, rational, analytical
and objective. The left hemisphere of the brain controls the right side
of the body. The right hemisphere of the brain is the creative side.
It's known for its intuitiveness, holistic properties, and psychic
abilities. It controls the left side of the body. Isn't it
interesting how hearing in your left ear has a connection with that
hemisphere of the brain.

Let's take some additional case information into consideration.
Several cases of possession have been researched, some worked on by
Western New York Paranormal and many others by independent
demonologists or clergy, and there is a common documentation between
them. Many individuals reported that when they felt a presence enter
their body or begin to take over their body it always began in an
extremity on their left hand side - almost working up their body like
tiny pin pricks. Interesting how in many psychic circles, the left hand
is considered the receptor hand of energy. Again, the left hand side
collaborating with the right hemisphere of the brain.

Considering these examples and the science behind it - the theory would
state that the left side of the body is the psychic receptor for the
person with sensitivities. This has been a common belief among many for
sometime but here's a little science to back the fact. The next key
will be using science to increase the results of people with
sensitvities.
