According to statistics, it is estimated that approximately 6,000
persons have this disorder, worldwide.

Well, we think that this number must be greatly underestimated. Over
the past six years, we have made contact with nearly 80 people who have
SOM, or have a family member who does. Since these are people who have
computers and know how to use them to find us, we believe that there
are many more SOMers 'out there' who are still struggling to find a
diagnosis, a little help, some decent information and the support they
deserve.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, or have been struggling to cope with
your vision problems for a long time, and have just stumbled across
this page, then you have found a group of fellow sufferers who are
waiting to welcome you and offer understanding.
