The successful candidate must have previous experience with ADP payroll implementation projects, as well as the ability to make recommendations for process improvements. As a member of the Canadian Leadership team, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for managing and administering the complete range of human resources activities for Canada. This includes recruiting, employee relations, salary and benefit administration, health and safety, and training and development planning. This position ensures that the company meets all relevant aspects of human resource, payroll, and labour legislation. Further responsibilities include backup administrative functions of the office.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Corporate Leadership
This position is responsible for the following:
a) Establishes business objectives and formulates appropriate strategies to support those objectives.
b) Evaluates the impact of business strategies on the organization.
c) Supports all functional leaders with information and analysis that aids in their decision making.

Day-to-Day Human Resources Administration
1. Provides HR related advice and guidance to managers and employees.
2. Provides hiring managers with a consultative approach to the recruitment and selection lifecycle.
a) Approves preferred vendor search firm and coordinates contract approval
b) Develops and communicates internal and external postings
c) Sources and interviews candidates for all open positions
d) Prepares offer letters and coordinates the orientation process with the hiring manager
e) Acts as a resource and provides guidance to hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
3. Administers the company benefits, including STD, LTD, life insurance, pension and employee stock purchase plans. This includes training and set up of new employees on the company benefits program, leading annual contract renewal, answering all questions pertaining to benefits, processing all benefit changes via the internet to the benefit carrier, and processing the payments for all company benefits. In addition, forecasts cost of company benefits for annual planning.
4. Administers company policies and procedures. Develops and communicates policies, to ensure that they meet all aspects of Canadian law and are consistent within company.
5. Provides counsel and advice to managers in all HR issues such as performance management, terminations, promotions, salary changes and development plans. Partners with HR in US and the company Solicitor as needed concerning labour legislation and certain company issues as it relates to H.R.
6. Coordinates and tracks the annual performance review and goal–setting programs. Including facilitation of Annual Performance Writing Workshop for new managers and Self-assessment Writing Workshop for new employees.
7. Implements and maintains all Provincial Health Insurance plans and all Provincial Workers' Compensation Plans. Keeps up-to-date on all laws pertaining to safety in the workplace.
8. Creates and maintains employee files, including attendance tracking (vacation request records, sick days, etc).
9. Creates and updates job descriptions as necessary.
10. Prepares, updates, and distributes all HR related reports and org charts, including monthly headcount.
11. Maintains and updates all employee related forms and HR documentation
12. Coordinates payments of HR programs including, tuition reimbursement, employee referral program, and fitness reimbursement.
13. Conducts exit interviews and analyzes results for trends.
14. Coordinates employee activities in conjunction with Company Social Committee (i.e. flu shot program, holiday party, health and wellness initiatives).
Maintains Annual Human Resources Programs
Plans, budgets, directs, and coordinates all special projects for the department as required:
a. Annual Reward and Recognition Program
i. Solicitation and collection of nominations
ii. Participation on Selection Committee team

Support of Payroll Administration
1. Process all personnel status changes such as new hire, termination, salary changes, leaves of absences, pension changes, etc in Ceridian Insync.
2. Works with Shared Service Payroll Department on a semi-monthly basis to processes payroll, including related government remittances (including calculation and submission of WSIB premiums and payments)
3. Supports Payroll Department in the preparation of all yearend reports for various government agencies and Elizabeth Arden (e.g. T4s, Releve 1s, Workers Compensation, and T220 forms).
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Complies with health and safety rules and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Skills
Education & Experience:
Post Secondary Education in Business or Human Resources Management required
Canadian Payroll Administration designation through Canadian Payroll Association an asset.
Four to five years experience as a Human Resources Generalist, preferably in the cosmetics, consumer products or luxury goods industries.
Previous experience with Ceridian a plus.
Excellent knowledge of Canadian and provincial employment laws.
Solid track record in recruitment and selection, employee relations, and performance management.

· Apply a strategic approach to meeting business staffing needs, by deploying a variety of recruiting methods to source and attract the most qualified candidates, in view of achieving desired business results;
· Work closely with hiring managers throughout recruitment process, to develop accurate competency requirements, position specifications, and candidate profiles, as well as providing coaching and training on interview techniques where required;
· Develop reporting statistics to track various data elements with a view to improve recruitment strategies where required, and to provide valuable market research feedback to managers on the competitive landscape;

· Manage vendor relationships and develop agreements for recruiting and outsourcing requirements, in coordination with HR groups across Canada;
· Ensure all internal control, compliance and regulatory guidelines are met;
· Assist with the implementation of a new recruitment software and participate in the training of managers on the new software, where required;
· As a Human Resources team member, participate in the achievement of departmental Human Resources goals, through the assignment of generalist duties and special projects, as may be required.
Our successful candidate will have:
· Three to five years of Human Resources recruitment experience in a multi-business, high volume, financial services environment;
· Experience in recruiting entry to mid level positions across a variety of functional and transactional areas;
· Well versed in behavioural and situational interview techniques, and the administration of other assessment tool;
· Post-secondary education with concentration in Human Resources; Finance background combined with Human Resources would be preferred;
· Recruitment certification and demonstrated extensive recruitment training is ideal;
· Strong knowledge of compensation principles; prior experience using HAY job evaluation methodology an asset;
· Strong analytical, assessment and writing skills are a must;
· Exceptional relationship building, influencing and communication skills;
