Hi List,

Today I had a little fun today manipulating Google with Ling from
LingsCars.com (@LINGsCARS). I noticed that my blog ranked number 1 for
"downtime is unacceptable" after I write a post on that topic...Ling
tried to steal number 1 position from me but only got to position 2 ;)

It got me thinking...what if we had a large competition between lots
of people. I would be interested in putting up £100 as a
prize....anybody interested?

Certainly I will join in.

The trick is choosing some random but not over-SEOd phrase I think.

Negative, Urban Dictionary takes the pole. You're in at number 2, Steven...

A significant chunk of the trick is having a site which is already well
respected by Google.

Although it might be a fun diversion to chase the £100 for competition's
sake, there are so many random factors involved (such as when Google chooses
to sweep your site) that I don't think there's much practical value to be
gained for anyone who knows SEO basics.

Besides, Ling's already bagged top spot for 'Ross Cooney is a spamming
idiot' and I don't think I want to try to trump that. ;)

I have just the domain for this competition www.analspecial.com

I will set up website tomorrow PM.

I will allow people to join the list and then we can fire out a new
phrase and then announce winner.

It really is anally special.

I can see competition from all over the world and we will pick up some
good blogging tips.

The real WTF will be the search terms linking to that website.

Hahaha, I've just overtaken Mr Cooney for "downtime is unacceptable"
on Google.

I look forward to his next move, or is this check-mate?

Hahahaha! Maybe I should come to a Super Monkeys meeting? Do you get
food?

I'm in, although it has to be noted that due to the area of the industry
that I work in I may be able to cheat....

Cool...cheaters are welcome ;)

Ling, I actually fell off my seat laughing at this. Yes, we do serve
food...sign up to the announcements list
(http://groups.google.co.uk/group/supermondays-announcements) and you
will find out about the events. And yes, we serve food at the monkey
meeting.

All monkeys welcome!

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this google race is going to turn out. Count me in.

I like Ling's new naming of Super Monday's to Super Monkey's. I can already think of a great new logo for it, a cross between Monkey Magic and Superman.
