[ULucky]

I'm ULucky. I'm not a programmer or a developer or anything like that but I played on Super Happy Fun Time, for a long while at that. Long story short, that server shut down out of the blue a few years back and at the beginning of last year, I tried to recreate it. With no experience, I think I faired pretty well. I managed to piece together the parts and bits of the server that many once loved and many still do. Anyway, with recent events like the COVID-19 pandemic, I've had some extra time at home so I decided to begin working on the project again.

With that being said, my real question here is what will happen? I'm beginning a course with CodeAcademy to try and get some tidbits of information on Java programming into my head so that I can hopefully peace together this crazy wonderful mess of a server that we all loved. But I've realized one big thing... I can't possibly do it myself. 

With that, here is my big issue and one that I'm sure a developer will come across:

Everything is outdated. For those of you that don't know Super Happy Fun Time ran on an instance of Minecraft known as Rainbow. In a way, everything was written in a weird outdated mumbo-jumbo language that isn't compatible with the plugins of today. This is the reason that many of the things that once were compatible, began to break. Things like PlotSigns, ChestShops and /fun commands.

So with that in mind, there are two most notable solutions..

-> [Stay the Same] The many qualities of SHFT that we have figured out, remain. Things like Kinder Eggs, Reward Blocks, Lottery and Achievements will be kept. The server however will remain outdated, stuck in version 1.8 with many bugs. We will continue on until we find away to update the Rainbow instance and update the plugins as well. 

-> [Scrap and Remake] We rebuild. Those special notable qualities do not remain. The ones that are compatible and work, will. The server will be updated to the latest version (currently 1.15.2) with things like Plots and GriefPrevention remaining. We will work to recreate and re-implement these features to the current setting, but it will be a completely different Super Happy.

And share it with your friends who used to play Super Happy so we can receive as much feedback as possible. For now, the server will remain online until it feels like we are ready to take the next step.

And to DoingItWell, if you see this and feel generous, know that your players are trying their best to recreate one of your wonderous creations.

zicvb here I used to play on SHFT. I think the main reason we all want to play on this server again is for the nostalgic purposes, so I don’t think it’s a good idea to get rid of the charming elements that made the server special. I don’t think many people will mind booting up their launcher in 1.8, and that will allow us to keep many of DoingItWell’s special touches to the server, which I think is the most important part. I could be wrong here and will be excited to hear what others think but yeah I think it’s best to keep playing in the older version.

Hey, i think it would be best to run it on 1.8 - all us OGs can check it out, play, and you know wat? people play on old versions for servers now, its ver yeasy to do. id love to see it. Good luck dude!
