[Social Justice Network] Quotes, Statements, etc. on PHEEIA & Education

Hi everyone,

A group at SUNY-Binghamton is putting together a webpage criticizing the Public Education Empowerment and Innovation Act and related attacks on education (budget cuts, etc.).  We'd like to put quotes, statements, pictures, video, and/or other material from a variety of schools on it.  If anyone has anything that might be useful in this regard, whether its a statement or leaflet your group has already put together, or photos from an event/action you did, or some of your own thoughts on the situation, it would be really helpful if you could send them to me or post them to this listerv.

Also, if you don't know about PHEEIA below is a brief overview.  It really sucks!

What to Fear in PHEEIA

PHEEIA – Public Higher Education Empowerment and Innovation Act 

PHEEIA amends state education laws so that SUNY & CUNY schools can be PRIVATIZED 

Privatization means: 

1. SUNY & CUNY schools will have the ability to set their own tuition. 

2. SUNY & CUNY schools will have the autonomy to raise tuition in smaller increments but more  frequently

3. SUNY & CUNY schools can charge differential rates of tuition.  Tuition will vary from campus to campus and from program to program on a campus.   


PHEEIA MAKES AFFORDABLE EDUCATION A THING OF THE PAST.

PHEEIA PROMOTES PROFITS OVER ACCESS TO EDUCATION FOR ALL!!
