Good News for Telangana people who have been waiting for a long time for new ration cards. The current government of Telangana has given ahead to receive new applications for ration cards from 28th of December till 06th January 2024.
Currently there are 89.98 lakh ration cards across the state. Out of this, 54.39 lakh cards were issued under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and there are 35.59 lakhs State Food Security Cards.
Lakhs of families are waiting for new ration cards in the state. Not only for basic commodities like rice but also for many schemes like Rajeev Aarogyasri, ration (food security) card is a must. As we all know that the state government has recently increased the limit of Rajeev Aarogyasri limit in Telangana from Rs.5 lakh to Rs.10 lakh rupees, many are awaiting to avail this benefit. Despite being eligible, many families do not have ration cards to get benefits from the government under various schemes. Such people can avail this opportunity.
Each person having their name enrolled in the ration card is currently receiving rice of 6 kg for free of cost. Wheat is also being distributed in Hyderabad as an alternative to Rice. Also ration card holders get subsidised products like Sugar through these shops.
Changes and additions in the ration cards will also be facilitated. It is known that an opportunity will be provided to correct mistakes from the 28th of this month. Inclusions and exclusions of family members will be allowed.
As per the data available with civil supplies, a total of 11.02 applications for the new ration card is pending. Once the government begins the process of receiving new ration applications this count may further go up.
Surprisingly around 11% of existing ration card holders are not using the ration cards in the state. Considering all these scenarios it is very much needed to scrutinize the existing cards and in parallel receive new applications from the one actually eligible.
