MAC addresses can be found in the MAC Address column in Qfinder Pro. If you do not see the NAS in Qfinder Pro, or you do not have access to a computer, you can find the MAC Address sticker on the back of your NAS. Learn more

QNAP Finder is the windows application which allows you to locate and configure your QNAP NAS.Supported Languages: English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Polish.
Operating System: Windows7, Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003, Server 2008

That's the thing, when I start up the computer I open finder and I can see the NAS in the Locations section on the left, I click on the NAS name and that is when I get the connection failed indication, the shared folder doesn't actually mount to the Desktop. I don't have the shared Home folder of the NAS setup to automatically login in the System Preferences > Users/Groups > Login Items tab because when I did that in the past the shared Home folder (or any other folder) does mount on the Desktop but I also have the Finder window for that shared folder pop up on every startup which is mildly annoying. I was getting along fine by manually clicking on the NAS name in Finder when I wanted to access it and it would login using the NAS user name and password saved in Keychain Access but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

Thanks, dragging it into the dock worked. It mounts now without automatically opening a finder window. I can click on the folder icon in the dock to open a window showing all the shared folders and there is an "open in finder" option in there as well. Appreciate the suggestion.

The program lies within Internet & Network Tools, more precisely Network Tools. The file size of the latest downloadable installation package is 37.2 MB. This free program was originally developed by QNAP Systems, Inc. QfinderPro.exe and QNAP Qfinder Mac.exe are the most frequent filenames for this program's installer.

Qfinder Pro allows you to find and access all the QNAP NAS (Network-Attached Storage) on your local network. Its “Storage Plug & Connect” functionality allows the QNAP NAS to be used as a PC network drive or virtual disk. You can also use the "Media Upload" feature to save NAS system resources by performing media file transcoding on your local PC before uploading them to the NAS.

Every Qnap NAS I have ever set up came with a fixed IP that had nothing to do with the subnet of the network I was installing it on. I had to first install the Qfinder utility on a workstation or server and use that to set it's IP address, then the web interface became available.

I have an old windows XP machine that I need to connect to my QNAP TS230. It cannot be upgraded to windows 10 .
Iv set the workgroup the same and it still cannot see the NAS.
Is there any way around this or is the machine simply too old?

I'm working on a QNAP NAS (TS-231) that suddenly went offline (don't ask why, the peeps who I set the network up for have a really hanky situation and know basically nothing about computers, so even if they did something to it, they wouldn't know what). No computers on the network (assorted PCs) can see it, other than my MacBook Pro. I can see it in the Qfinder Pro app and view network settings, but not change any of them. It shows up under Network in Finder, but I can't connect. I've tried connecting to it via ethernet directly, ethernet to the router (It's also plugged into the router, swapped out cables for a known working one), wifi, eerythang I could think of. Everything is plugged in like normal, all the lights and beeps are normal, etc. Any more ideas?

This is a fresh install of Sonarr and it starts up all fine and everything seems fine all except my problem above. I can see the NAS in my Mac mini finder which is where I have Sonarr installed as well as the mounted folders in the NAS. Am sure I have NAS settings right but not 100% as seems to be a problem somewhere, but wish I knew where.

Thank you for all your advice.
I contacted QNAS tech support and explained the symptoms of the QNAS blocking access from Windows 10. They were able to fix the problem by operating externally to the QNAS and windows 10 PC directly online.
From the operation, I found that the handshake between SMB of Windows 10 and SMB of QNAS was faulty and QNAS blocked the IP address of Windows 10 PC.
Although it is not a recommended action, I unblocked the QNAS to Windows SMB.

I've recently added a Deco M5 mesh system to my house. Prior to adding the system everything with my QNAP TS431P was working perfectly. I could access it through the web interface, I could find it in Qfinder Pro and I could map the drives to both my wifes Windows 10 laptop and my Macbook pro and time machine was backing up. Since installing the Deco I can only access the NAS via the web brower. Qfinder Pro no longer finds the NAS and the mapped network drives don't work and time machine hasn't backed up.

The message below comes up through Qfinder Pro, I'm not sure how to action other than I've checked and it appears that both the NAS and deco and computer are all on the same subnet. The NAS seems to be booted, and when I turn off the Antivirus on the Deco it makes no difference.

To manually open a DMG file, you will need to use the Disk Utility application on your Mac. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Open the Finder window and click on Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility.
2. In the left-hand pane of Disk Utility, select your hard drive (or external drive if applicable).
3. Select File > Open Image from the menu bar in Disk Utility.
4. Navigate to where you want your image file and then select it in the pop-up window that appears.
5. Click Open once you have selected your image file, then click Mount in the lower right corner of the window when prompted by a pop-up window to do so.
6. Your mounted DMG file will appear as an additional volume on your desktop or in Finder windows for easy access and manipulation of files contained within it without having to burn them onto a disc first or extract them using other tools such as 7zip or Stuffit Expander!
7. When finished with your work involving this mounted DMG file, eject it by clicking on its icon and selecting Eject from the context menu that appears when doing so (or simply dragging its icon off of any Finder windows).
I hope this helps!
