There is a group in Powell River called Seed Savers, their big event is Seedy Saturday - theirs in on March 13th this year, the week after OneStraw's on the Lower Coast. I thought it might be a great idea to connect with them, and extend our seed diversity within our bio-region.

To that end, Mary, FYI I may be doing a seed
collective workshop in late February as I am working on Texada that weekend
already - David will be booking me with projects - I will connect with
them but great if anyone else is doing work with them as well -

Hi there Sunshine Coast Seed-Saving Collectivists (and hi Robin!),
Thanks to Mary Degan for letting me know that this group existed! Exciting... I'm a member of the organizing committee for our Seedy Saturday here in Powell River, and one of the organizers of the seed-saving project which we started up at the beginning of the last growing season. This year we're moving Seedy Saturday to a larger venue, and having two series of workshops: one practical hands-on stuff, and the other more theoretical or high-level presentations about local seed-saving, agricultural, and food-security projects in the community.
Here's hoping we can find some good ways to share knowledge, skills, and (most importantly) SEEDS from one side of Jervis Inlet to the other. We will be having a couple of seed-packing parties ahead of Seedy Saturday (a good way to get some local press coverage). Maybe there is some way to share excess seeds, but I have no idea what that might mean. We'll have to keep the lines of communication open.
