MGN-similar technique using Sunpy or Python

Hi all

I am currently working on locating the off-limb jet eruption and determining the jet volume. I found out that there is a Multiscale Gaussian Normalisation (MGN) technique (Morgan & Druckmuller 2014) that could enhance off-limb intensity in IDL, so I wonder if there are similar algorithms using Sunpy or written in python? Also, if you have any experience working with similar problems and are happy to share your suggestions or code snippets, I will be really grateful for your help
