I hope this message finds you well.

My name is Ashish, and I am an aspiring contributor to open-source projects with a particular interest in SunPy. I am planning to participate in Google Summer of Code this year and am keen to contribute to the SunPy project as part of my application.

.Would it be possible to schedule a brief meeting or receive some advice on the best way to get started? I am eager to learn more about the project's current needs and how I might contribute effectively. Additionally, if there are any resources or documentation you recommend, I would appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and hope to collaborate with  the SunPy community.

Hello Ashish,

Welcome and glad to hear you are interested in contributing.
Preparation for next year's GSoC has not begun, and there always the chance that we do not get selected for it either.

With that in mind. We recommend that everyone starts with reading https://docs.sunpy.org/en/latest/dev_guide/contents/newcomers.html to get started.
This will walk you through getting a development environment setup. When that is complete, the next step is to start tackling some good first issues which are linked in that guide.

Our GSoC advice is on our Wiki: https://github.com/sunpy/sunpy/wiki/Google-Summer-of-Code

If you have any questions or problems do please let me know but we encourage all communications to occur on our chat room; https://matrix.to/#/#sunpy:openastronomy.org

Kind regards
Nabil
