Maybe this is old news to you all: it was new to me:
From the West Portal Monthly News: October 2010
Whole Foods signs long-term lease with Kragen's Ocean Avenue site
by Alexander Mullaney
The Kragen Auto Parts store - which had once been a grocery store -
has been demolished, clearing the way for a new development that will
include 173 apartments with amenities including a fitness center and
several private outdoor landscaped barbecue areas.
But that's not all. It will also have retail space for a grocery store
- a Whole Foods Market, to be exact.
"We are very excited about the project", said Med Spriggs, senior
development director for Avalon Bay Communities, the developer for the
former Kragen site. "Our plans include a Whole Foods Market who will
occupy approximately 26,000 square feet at the ground floor level and
a landscaped plaza adjacent to Whole Foods on the new Brighton Avenue
extension.
"The project will also be built to green standards, seeking LEED
certificantion,' explained Spriggs.
