to QPC Sunnyside Media
Hey guys,
First, I would like to thank everyone who helped out with the Easter
Cantata. It was really awesome and I’m sure God is super proud. Our
next media team meeting is on May 15th. I would like to get crackin on
the website and welcoming material.
Welcoming Video:
Pastor Mario, Pastor Storck, Rob and I met with a brother name Nathan
from Redeemer we and discussed how we’re going to start a welcoming
video project. Nathan does the media for Redeemer and he will be
consulting us throughout this assignment.
Here are the notes Pastor Mario & I took:
We are not going to make a long DVD but many short video clips
“Mission statement, Community Groups, Interviews, Meet the Leaders,
Meet the Pastors, Taste of QPC, Community Events, etc”
These clips will be in the different pages/sections of our website.
We will burn the clips into a DVD so that newcomers could easily
search chapters and topics rather than watching a whole documentary on
our history and the Gospel (we’ll leave that for the sermons + Taste
of QPC).
We will not sell Christianity, we’re selling the idea of: “Come to
this place (church), it’s a safe place to come.”
In order to “boil” QPC Sunnyside to a 2-3 min video, we should draw a
map (Jon’s forte) to get a feel of what is really important.
The narrative will start in Sunnyside and narrows down to QPChurch;
Jon intros; Narrator; Jon ends.
Homework:
Sketchbook stage:
Right now, we have a good idea of where we’re going with this. For our
next meeting, can we as a team bring in some notes for these videos.
It could be ANYTHING.
Examples:
- Who should we be interviewing? E.g. Meeyoung would be perfect to
interview about fellowship…. We could interview Kelly about Children’s
Ministry, Interview one of the kids about Sunnyside city camp,
Interview Sunnyside pizza..etc. We should only interview church
members, we should interview non-believers who are in our community
-
- These are the chapters/ video clips we should have: toddlers/
children’s ministry, community groups, we shouldn’t spend too much
time on in-reach but on out-reach
-
- Write a Script! Attached is a script Pastor Mario wrote.
So yes, I am giving everyone homework. You don’t need to bring in a
typed up Word document with 99 bullet points. I would just like
everybody to brainstorm a bit before the next meeting.
My 2 cents:
God is really good. Nathan mentioned that this is a good opportunity
for us to really evaluate who we are as a church and really focus on
our priorities. Maybe we’ll realize, “wow we really should focus more
on the toddlers ministry” or “we’re spending way too much time on one
outreach event.” Though we have many tasks to work on, I think that
God is going to crucially challenge us on each assignment. I don’t
think we’re going to be struggling with the technical aspect as much
as we will be wrestling with God’s blueprint for our ministry.
I always thought that we were going to be the underdogs- the team that
serves, serves, serves without expecting anything back in return. I
was so wrong. I expect His blessings. I expect God’s goodness. I
expect God to be in all of our meetings and projects. He is our
Project Manager. Woe to me for I never realized how God could reveal
Himself through a service team such as Media.

I will be out of town this Sunday. I will miss you all. I will be
praying for us.

Hey Media Team!
I won't be at church for the next 4 weeks, so I'll miss the meeting. but this is my two cents:

video suggestions:
-shoot pastor storck in front of the church at normal speed, and then follow him across the street in fast forward, and then back at normal speed when they're in front of their apartment.... just to show them how close to the church Taste of QPC is.
----I would suggest probably not going up the stairs/elevator to show which apartment they are :) For safety reasons
-cut out the fluff. people's attention span is only so long. if they see it's 4 minutes long, even if it's fantastic, most people won't give it a chance. just my opinion. i don't know. i'm not good at that kinda stuff.
-Open with Eye of the Tiger, with scenes of Sunnyside during the dramatic notes? That may be too high school-ish, but hey, i'm still in college...ish. :)
-none (or very very few) pictures. moving pictures!!!

sorry, i don't have many opinions. i'm not good with videos.
