Does anyone know of a workaround that would allow SoundBlaster to be used while BB x1 is installed. Have lost all my sound ability because part of the SoundBlaster software must be disabled in order for X1 to run. Real shortfall of the system.

Not sure what you mean.
the printer will run independently of your computer. in fact you dont even need a computer to run the printer. so how does a piece of computer hardware keep the printer from running?
the printer does not care about your computer.

guess I was not clear. I was not speaking of the printer at all. Just the software used by BB to slice the item. It conflicts with SoundBlaster so you get an error notice. Once you disable SoundBlaster it all works just fine. I did not intend to mention the printer at all in my initial post, surprised I did.

Funny. They are still one of the top rated sound cards in the industry. And no, it does not interfere with any other software. But there was a gentleman on here that experience the same error due to the sound card. Apparently BBL is aware of it because they have a very distinct error notice for it telling you what you must disable.

Seems I can not submit a support ticket as it requires so much information that I can not provide like end date and log files. What a complicated support ticket just to ask a simple question. I can understand why much of it is needed, but to make it mandatory before you can submit a simple question.

For the life of me I can not find BBL on GitHub, even though your link took me to the sign on page. Oh well try something else. Maybe I will just have to build another PC to get sound. For us old farts this stuff is a little complicated. But thanks.

Indeed that is the correct link and it takes me to GH where I have to sign in. I have had a GH account for some time but can not figure out how to navigate it. As for the error msg I can not recall the exact verbiage. Should have taken a screenshot. But it mentioned a particular type of file that was interfering with the initial BBL setup. Found the file and delayed and tge install went fine. Another man on here had the same problem and as I recall he showed an image of tge error. I will look for it and get back to you.

My bad. I got an error message saying that one creative labs file would interfere with the initial setup of my X1when I first unpacked it. I never moved forward to see what it would do if I did not uninstall the soundblaster file, I just uninstalled it and the X1 started just fine. Have not yet tried to reinstall Soundblaster. Will do so soon and see what happens. Another gent had the same problem and spoke of it on the platform.

All the files would have been lost if not for SquallStrife, who came to the rescue with his excellent, timely movement to set up a separate file hosting to put up all the drivers being uploaded there.

SquallStrife has setup the VOGONSDRIVERS website to host all the drivers mentioned here and lots more.

All files displayed here will point to the page where the files can be found at Vogonsdrivers.

Some original uploads didn't make it into vogonsdrivers. I'll try gathering them again. And also, it would be helpful for those who have the missing files to upload to vogonsdrivers directly, if possible.

what do you think about working with me in organizing and compilating an 8-bit drivers CD? The current collection is too disorganized with duplicates, IMO
I don't think this will happen quickly as getting stuff for these older cards is even harder than the 16-bit ones... I would like to make an all inclusive compilation like my 16-bit one, that includes new and old versions, but with newer versions being offered as the primary choice for installation... this will require getting floppy images from many people from all sorts of places, which takes a lot of time

Hi all, I am new to the forum and I will start off with saying, wow guys im impressed. You have helped A TON with my vintage computer I am building. Anyhow, I thought I would throw it out there that I have in my possession a Live! 5.1 Platinum users manual and box with all the goodies EXCEPT the CD(s). Does anyone have the driver cd/application cd (if there were two) or know where I can get my hands on that? I would be VERY appreciative. Thanks a ton guys, especially Malik, theMAN, and dkwolverine (and many others I know!)

However, I noticed that each disks needs to have a label. Some disks, like the 2.0 installation disks, come in folders and therefore one has to manually label the disks using LABEL.EXE or on the desktop by right clicking.

@fantasma, I believe that the three? releases of non-5.1 are one card, SB4760 maybe? and all three of the 5.1 releases (Platinum, mp3+, xgamer?) were another card, SB0600. I have the SB0600P, as denoted on my box, for platinum. I would assume that the drivers would all be the same for the similar card releases and just the software was different. However, I found a full iso that claimed it was from a* 5.1 release, and it installed alot of the software I was expecting but caused BSODs and the drivers were incompatible with my sound card so im unsure what I had/or if the previous assumption is correct. Anyhow, short answer, I definitely don't know for sure.

If you look at this picture, I have been in contact with this seller and I may just buy this package from him because it appears there are at least 2-4 software disks that came with the bundle, then all the games. If anyone has any first hand knowledge of this let me know. If I do end up picking this up from him, would there be any of those disks that Vogons would like me to upload/copy and send to someone for safekeeping?

To start, I am a complete linux noob trying out Ubuntu to see if I can use it as my primary OS. Perfectly willing to put work into getting it setup, but I'm running into an issue that I can't find a solution to. I've seen some similar questions asked but none with quite the same issue.

THE QUESTION: I installed a brand new copy of Ubuntu 13.10. I have a Soundblaster Audigy Fx Model SB1570 installed that works fine in Windows 7. Granted, it has a Windows 7 driver and I can't seem to find a Linux driver for said card. What can I do?

Then test to see if sound works. This sequence of commands makes my ALC898-based Audigy Fx PCIe card work normally for as long as the system is booted. If you find that these commands reliably make the card work, you might be able to put similar commands into a script in /etc/rc.local. This workaround is not ideal but is good enough for my purposes.

When that little sound pocket forms, outside sound is cut way down, and the P5 does its work. Those little drivers are amazing. Somehow, possibly through those fancy back ports, the P5 is able to produce nuanced bass and treble without crushing any of the detail.

One thing I really like about the headset is the headband; it's more robust than it looks, springing back into place after we bend it up so that the headband is nearly flat. Creative did this by using steel underneath the padding instead of plastic. While doing this with other headsets often makes me cringe, the Sound BlasterX H5 happily takes the bending in stride.
