As @box alludes to, you are probably falling victim to thinking that the model is 2D when it is actually 3D with a torus shape to the wheel. You likely selected a point that is slightly around the curve, not on the ultimate perimeter. Turning on view->hidden geometry and orbiting a bit should reveal this situation.

Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to providing you with the best possible service and support for all your caster and wheel needs. We understand that every project is unique, and that's why we offer a wide range of caster CAD files and drawings to help you make informed decisions and design your project with precision.

I am new to nurbs modeling. I like it a lot. I have been trying to model a sheet metal stamped wheel caster for weeks. I have tried many different ways. the latest is boolean union of a cylinder with a box and subtracting the shape. I still have awkward transitions, especially the shrink surfaces and blends. I Maybe this model should be laid out flat like a blank sheet metal part and bent. Really stumped. Looking forward to have you model geniuses would tackle this. As always thanks in advance for your help.

It is #2, and I am not reinventing the wheel, I am learning how to blend compound shapes together using nurbs. It is useful when designing. You got a gazillion videos on nurbs modeling. I just thought I would take something from scratch a stamped part which is difficult to blend and try to model it. I watched the video on the car hood by the Australian, and there were microscopic blends and lofts and tween curves, it was amazing. That is a learned skill.

You solved the biggest problem that I was having, it was blending the back to the front. I kept coming up with holes from the top blend to the side. It was maddening. I would fill the top go to the side fillet and there would be a blank spot. It is the area in green on your drawing. How did you model that? Was it a loft? And how did you get the curves from the two shapes? Using edge curves, which I have never done.

Not everyone is familiar with the terminology associated with wheel alignments. While you may not find it necessary to become acquainted with terms such as camber, caster, and toe, it is beneficial to understand the workings of these three major alignment parameters. Proper wheel alignment is essential to maintaining vehicle and tire longevity, while also ensuring that your ride is both safe and comfortable.

Camber is the angle of the wheel relative to the vertical of the vehicle, and depending on the tilt, is either considered positive camber or negative camber. When the top of the tires tilt away from the center of the vehicle you have positive camber, and when the top of the tires are tilted inward you have negative camber. One isn't better than the other, but varying camber angles have different effects on your vehicle.

Caster is the angle that identifies the forward or backward slope of a line that is drawn through the upper and lower steering pivot points. It does not affect tire wear, but caster does have an influence on the directional control of the steering. Caster angle settings allow manufacturers to balance steering effort, high speed stability, and front end cornering effectiveness.

Positive and negative caster mainly apply to race cars, and unless your vehicle is lifted or customized in some way that calls for an adjustment, street cars usually run on factory determined settings.

Toe is a measurement that determines how much the front and/or rear wheels are turned in or out from a straight-ahead position. The amount of toe, whether it's toe-in or toe-out, is expressed as the difference between the track widths as they are measured at the leading and trailing edges of the tires. Toe is expressed in degrees or fractions of an inch, and while your wheels should be pointed directly ahead as you are traveling straight forward, there are some benefits to toeing depending on the type of vehicle that you drive.

The purpose of toe is to ensure that all four wheels roll parallel to one another. However, race cars use toe-out to promote enhanced turning ability. Street cars, or basic passenger cars, use toe-in because there is no need to corner quickly. Toe-in also provides increased stability because it discourages turning. If your vehicle has the proper amount of toe you should experience ideal straight line stability, corner entry, and very little tire wear.

This heavy duty spring loaded caster is the premium shock absorbing caster available for loads requiring 500 pounds of capacity or less. Not only does it protect sensitive equipment from shock loads and vibration but it also reduces noise during transportation and has the ability to roll over obstructions.

The 7M-GDS Series features a special NBR rubber based spring system instead of conventional metal springs. This eliminates shortened service life due to rust or loss of tension within standard metal springs. Additionally, the NBR rubber offers a softer, more ergonomic ride with less recoil when the caster goes over obstacles. With multiple wheel and mounting options, the 7M-GDS Series is the go-to series for a wide variety of applications. This caster is RoHS and CE Mark compliant.

Spring loaded and shock absorbing casters are most often used for applications requiring a cushioned ride that protects from shock and vibration. Some common applications include medical equipment and carts, sensitive diagnostic and electrical equipment, laboratory equipment, mobile workstations, computer main frames and towers, sound and lighting equipment, food processing equipment, and many other applications.

This rigid caster rig is composed of a mounting plate made of pressed steel that is attached to a powder coated aluminum frame and carbon steel legs. The rig houses a NBR rubber based spring system that eliminates shortened service life due to rust or loss of tension within standard metal springs. Additionally, the NBR rubber offers a softer, more ergonomic ride.

This shock absorbing caster comes standard with a premium polyurethane tread (95 shore A) molded to an aluminum core. The polyurethane tread is non-marking and safe for all floor types. The wheel also includes easy roll maintenance free ball bearings.

There are many factors that determine the mold fee: such as the number of customized casters, the number of molds that need to be opened, the type of mold, etc. (stamping mold, injection mold, etc.), so it is recommended to consult our engineers directly for information.

There are 2 situations:
1. You have ready-made samples, and you want us to mass-produce the same products according to the details of the samples, then you can just provide us with samples, and we can carry out CAD modeling based on the samples, open molds, and produce exactly the same products .
2. If you only have CAD drawings, then you can provide us with the drawings, and inform us of the load capacity requirements, material requirements, use environment and other information of the casters. We will make samples based on these information, and we will send the samples to you for testing, testing After approval, formal production can be arranged.
