Dear Sundials-Team,

I’m working on the simulation of a DAE. For that, I use IDAS via mopeds (https://mopeds.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) which is a wrapper around CasADi.

For the simulation, I need to specify a time grid and the number of steps/grid points appear to have an influence on the solvability.

I don’t quite understand why the specification of a time grid is needed and why it has an influence. First of all, I’m not sure if this time grid definition is required for IDAS or for CasADi. If it is required for IDAS, can you explain to me, why a time grid is needed. I would assume that a start and end point of the simulation time is sufficient and the step size is internally controlled.

I’m looking forward hearing from you!

Kind regards,

Vincenta
