In recent development in Lokpal bill, the UPA`s insistence on keeping
the CBI under government control is
beyond comprehension. The only inference that can be drawn is that by
keeping a hold on the CBI, the governement can use or misuse it for
obvious reasons. Howerver, if the Congress is nursing any illusions
about always remaining in power, it may be sadly mistaken. People are
now undergoing a process of political awakening, having experienced
six decades of democractic rule in the country. It will, therefore not
be surprised if political power changes hands more often the
foreseable future than it did in the past. This is why all political
outfits must ensure the CBI`s neutrality so that no party in power can
make use of it as its handmaiden.
Best Wishes!
