Enjoy Lent by Giving Up:

* raising the thermostat when putting on more clothes will do –saves you heating expense –avoids energy generation pollution
* throwing away a recyclable container when it can be washed and reused or recycled -products manufactured from recycled materials save energy compared to manufacturing from virgin materials –reuse saves you money –save landfill space
* buying coffee in Styrofoam or paper cups –take your own mug and save the landfill space
* washing half loads of clothes or dishes –saves energy generation, avoids pollution and saves money on your utility bill
* holding open the fridge door –warm air rushes in which must be re-cooled –plan your door openings and make them brief to save energy
* buying “take-out” and creating more container trash –save our landfill space
* running a leaf blower instead of just raking the yard by hand –its good exercise and it saves energy and avoids noise pollution
* keeping the lights on when no one is in the room –turn off the lights when you leave
* using non-reusable bags at the supermarket –save the energy to manufacturer non-reusable bags and the oil that goes into making plastic bags
* saving stuff you don’t really use anymore –clean out the garage and closets –donate good quality items for reuse by others
