Thanks very much for including the organizers in this email.
1. As of now, three people who have volunteered to help with greeting (at least some times) are: Rich S., Hilary (though there was a question whether someone who wasn't an organizer/board member could do that--I am fine with that being a board decision, just let me know), and Michael D. Joe helped the time before last, so he might be interested. I think Erik would be a great greeter but he usually busy helping with other stuff.
We could use more greeters, not only at the official greeting table but also circulating around saying hi to folks and making them feel welcomed--or that can just be an ongoing activity for all board members/organizers. I would
encourage folks who have introverted tendencies like myself that this is a very safe easy short-duration way to extend experiences of acting like extroverts!
Lee and Erik and others were a really good example of circulating around the lunch tables and saying hi. That might be a good idea that all board members/organizers during lunch do circulate somewhat and try to meet most of the folks there
Erik had mentioned to me the idea that at every table there should be a board member/organizer. I don't know what others think of that idea but we/you should discuss it. (Speaking for myself, as I had mentioned before I need intellectual stimulation from a Sunday meeting and I would want to gravitate to where the speakers were to fulfill that need of mine.)
2. I am not sure whether the greeters would do the chairs or not. I think we can help,
but we might also be busy with greeting folks. It might be an idea to have that a rotating task for different folks each time. If it's greeters, then we need more than just 2-3 folks helping with the chairs.
3. Justina you had mentioned you thought a basket would more appropriate than a beer pitcher (something about beer pitchers struck me as funny as well as somewhat mocking of other less dignified collections that sometimes happen so I kind of like that but a basket is fine) we would need several official baskets. Do you have something in mind? Does basket need any type of emblem/SA logo on it or even the 3 line slogan? I am happy to collect the money and then hand over to someone else for counting and safe keeping.
4. Just me personally, not a fan of Tshirts and rarely wear them, so I'd like a tag--or maybe you can have both for those us not only
not in the black tshirt group ;-) but not in a tshirt group at all.
5. *****One other very crucial task--is to set up a place for lunch afterward AND to maybe print up a sign or flyers with the address so folks will go over afterward. And all the circulating greeters should friendly invite/remind folks to join us afterward at so and so place.
6. If you're printing/creating stuff--do you want to have printed up some type of cloth/banner to drape over the welcome table that has SA logo and slogan and maybe says Welcome or something?
