Hello everyone,

Here are some suggested questions for the April 3 meeting:

1. Regarding the interview with author Tim Farrington: do you believe
that long periods of depression/grief yield an eventually positive
outcome in your life? Or do these periods just fade away without any
significant learning? Do you think it's true, as Farrington says, that
you can learn "humility and grace" through suffering in depression, or
is that a Puritan myth?

2. In "A Figure in Black and Gray," author Joe Hoover writes about
what it means to live the (religious) contemplative life. Have you
ever considered giving up so much for a spiritual ideal? Why or why
not?

3. Do you think that now is the time for Sy to take longer breaks
between "Notebooks?" :)

As for a new venue, I thought of The Ugly Mug in Orange (261 N.
Glassell St., north of Chapman): http://home.earthlink.net/~pdoyon01/

Or maybe Kean Coffee in Tustin (13681 Newport Avenue, Suite 14),
though it may be crowded on weekends: http://www.keancoffee.com/LocationAndHours.aspx

Have a great week,

Jennie
