Here are the questions I came up with. Each one is related to the
interviews -- one for April and one for May.
1. Do you agree with Alex Steffen (April) that the Left's critical
mindset leads not to action but a "learned helplessness"? Do you think
that constantly critiquing social issues - not just environmentalism,
but racism, sexism, etc. - does nothing but teach people that they
should think of themselves as victims? Is the Right just as guilty of
this?
2. In May, Sandor Katz says, "I'm not preaching that we need to get
rid of all refrigerators, but I'm not convinced it's sustainable for
everybody to have one." In real life, do you think this would mean
that only the affluent would have refrigerators? Is this quote an
example of eco-elitism? How can environmentalism be made attractive to
ambitious lower-class people - or should it be? Does effective
environmentalism mean a severe drop in the Western standard of living
(which is the opposite of what Alex Steffen believes)?
