Conventional heating and cooling systems use air to transfer heat into and out of buildings. Geothermal systems use the nearly constant temperature of the ground as a heat source in the winter and as a heat sink in the summer. Properly designed and installed, these systems can heat and cool efficiently. Because these systems are often intimately connected with underground sources of drinking water, the North Carolina Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program of the Division of Water Resources regulates the construction and operation of these systems in order to keep the groundwater suitable for drinking.

Understanding the fee issues and registration requirements specific to the underground storage tank maintenance fee program can be time-consuming and complicated. It is important that you get the information you need in a timely and understandable way, which will help you focus on starting and growing your business.
The CDTFA, in cooperation with the State Water Resources Control Board administers this program to provide revenue for the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund in the General Fund. The fee is collected from the owner of an underground storage tank based on the number of gallons of petroleum placed in the tank during the reporting period.
The underground storage tank maintenance fee is used to provide revenue for the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund in the General Fund. The primary purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to the owners and operators of underground storage tanks to remediate conditions caused by leaks, reimburse for third party damage and liability, and assist in meeting federal financial responsibility requirements.
Entering tunnels presents unique tactical challenges, many of which cannot be addressed without specialized equipment. In some cases, it can be impossible to breathe without oxygen tanks in tunnels, depending on their depth and air ventilation. It can also be impossible simply to see. Most military night-vision goggles rely on some ambient light and cannot function when it is entirely absent. Any military navigation and communication equipment that relies on satellite or line-of-sight signals will not work underground. A weapon fired in compact spaces of tunnels, even a rifle, can produce a concussive effect that can physically harm the firer. A single defender can hold a narrow tunnel against a much superior force.
There is no uniform solution to the problem that tunnels will present Israeli ground force, undoubtedly one of the biggest they will face in Gaza. Dealing with each tunnel will require a situation-dependent mix of capabilities. But above all, given the scale and complexity of the underground infrastructure in Gaza, one thing is certain: overcoming the challenges posed by tunnels will require a lot of time.
Q2: Have seen many Twittersphere-instant-experts and the like advocating for flooding the tunnels. Is that generally practical for a situation like this, where the goal is finding & killing Hamas, and denying them the use of the tunnels for movement and the supplies cached underground? My (also amateur) assumption is that if IDF finds a tunnel entrance, they'll want to explore all of its connections, and sterilize as much of the system as they can find. A gazillion gallons of water (arguably) impedes IDF as much as it impacts Hamas.
I am afraid that Hamas has filled the tunnels
And underground hq beneath Al shifa hospital with fuel air gas thermobaric weapons. I am told it would not take much of these to blow the hospital and its neighborhood apart. Results could be equivalent to a small nuke Is this possible?
The State of California loses billions of dollars to the underground economy. Fraud and tax evasion most often occur in cash-driven businesses such as bars, restaurants, used car dealerships, and construction, but is also common in businesses selling counterfeit products and in the tobacco industry.
We investigate businesses that avoid paying payroll taxes, many of which are part of the underground economy. If you would like to help us protect workers and create fairness for business competition, you can do one of the following:
The actual size of the underground economy is difficult to measure. In September of 2019, the IRS released a new set of tax gap estimates for tax year 2011-2013. The tax gap is defined as the amount of tax liability faced by taxpayers that is not paid on time. After adjusting for audit and collection activities, the IRS estimates that in 2011-2013 the net national tax gap was approximately $381 billion.
When businesses operate in the underground economy, they illegally reduce the amount of money used for insurance, payroll taxes, licenses, employee benefits, safety equipment, and safety conditions. These types of employers then gain an unfair competitive advantage over businesses that comply with the various business laws. This causes unfair competition in the marketplace and forces law-abiding businesses to pay higher taxes and expenses.
We are concerned about workers who lose benefits and other protections provided by state law when the businesses that they work for operate in the underground economy. When businesses operate in the underground economy, they gain an unfair advantage over businesses that comply with the law. This causes unfair competition in the marketplace and forces law-abiding businesses and every citizen in California to pay higher taxes. Our Underground Economy Operations (UEO) organization was established in 1993 to implement and administer the activities of the Joint Enforcement Strike Force. The mission of the UEO is to reduce unfair business competition and protect the rights of workers by:
The Employment Enforcement Task Force (EETF) is the first program implemented by the JESF. The EETF works with the JESF partner agencies to conduct joint on-site business inspections to identify employers who operate in the underground economy. The goal of the EETF is to identify and bring into compliance those individuals and businesses participating in the underground economy that are in violation of payroll tax, labor, and licensing laws.
The Labor Enforcement Task Force (LETF), under the direction of the California Department of Industrial Relations, is a coalition of California state government enforcement agencies that work together and in partnership with local agencies to combat the underground economy. In this joint effort, information and resources are shared to ensure that employees are paid properly and have safe work conditions and that honest, law-abiding businesses have the opportunity for healthy competition.

Underground Injection Wells are wells used for injecting water or other fluids into a groundwater aquifer. Department of Health Administrative Rules, Title 11, Chapter 23 provides conditions governing the location, construction, and operation of injection wells so that injected fluids do not migrate and pollute underground sources of drinking water. Section 4 of the Rules gives the criteria for classifying aquifers into those that are designated as underground sources of drinking water and those that are not.
