A joint training session for the Nishonoseki Ichimon was held at the North Hall of Grand Front Osaka in front of JR Osaka Station in preparation for Haru Basho. 41-year-old Tamawashi  was 6-6 in 12 matches. He attacked  Gounoyama and others with sharp thrusts and pushes. After Hatsu he veteran was recognized by the Guinness World Records for "Most consecutive appearances in sumo," and presented with an official certificate. He smiled and said, "I gave it my all. I still have a week, so I'll do my best." If he won't go kyujo, he would equal the all-time record of 1,470 consecutive appearances in Makuuchi held by Kyokutenhou on the third day of Haru. "I want to do my best without thinking about my age," he summed.
