Fujinokawa was at the Tokitsukaze rengo-keiko today as well and had a total of 16 bouts, including bouts with other sekitori and a head to head session with Ozeki Kirishima . Fujinokawa has been troubled by his neck, having had to leave the Jungyo due to a cervical disc herniation. His strength is his headfirst tachiai, but he said, "I want to increase the number of bouts where I can charge with my chest at the tachiai so as not to strain my neck. I also want to increase my weight from 125 kg to around 130 kg." In the last tournament, where he was ranked at his highest rank ever, East Maegashira 2, he achieved a kachikoshi with an 8-7, including defeating two Yokozuna, and also won the Technique Prize. This tournament, he has risen even higher in rank to East Maegashira 1, and is within reach of Sanyaku . He plans to continue going for degeiko from the 6th onwards, further upping his training pace.
