Aonishiki got his 10th win, the condition for his return to Ozeki, in just one tournament. He forced out Gounoyama. "I'm just happy to have won," he said and proudly added, "I believed in myself and did what my Oyakata told me to do." He said that his Oyakata Ajigawa told him, "It's okay. Do your best," before sending him off. He smiled and said, "I'm glad I've won 10 matches so far," fulfilling the expectations. Despite suffering from injuries, he has achieved results. In the Haru basho this year, he fractured his left little toe, and although he resumed training, he injured his left ankle. He missed the entire Natsu basho and was demoted to Sekiwake. In this tournament, in which he aimed to return to Ozeki rank, he suffered a series of injuries, including bleeding from his left big toe in his match against Takanoshou on day 8. Ajigawa Oyakata  said, "I'm only thinking about the match in front of him. I just want him to come back safely. One match at a time," praying for his safety. He said that he is receiving treatment "every day," and revealed his thoughts, "He wasn't thinking about winning 10 matches or winning the yusho at all."
