Houshouryuu, who is aiming to achieve his first Yokozuna yusho in his seventh tournament since promotion, visited Arashio beya in Nishi Ward, Sakai City on the 28th, where he fought a total of 16 bouts against  Ozeki Aonishiki and others who were also training there, going  8-8. He was often seen taking the lead at the tachiai, and analyzed, "My body movements were too good, and I sometimes couldn't adjust my speed." He apparently began training there on the 27th. He set his sights on Aonishiki, who has beaten him in all five of their bouts, including the yusho match, but his opponent ran out of stamina and he only managed to face him for five bouts. While he managed to save face with a record of 3 wins and 2 losses, he said with a wry smile, "That guy doesn't train, so..."
