The Kyokai announced that it will revise admission fees for the bashos starting with the January tournament next year. Currently, there are two price patterns: weekdays and weekends/holidays, but in addition, prices will change on the 14th day and the final day. The highest price until now was 20,000 yen for the tamari seats. This was set uniformly for all dates, but in the Tokyo tournament, prices will vary depending on the date. Weekdays will be 25,000 yen, weekends/holidays 27,500 yen, and the 14th day and the final day will be 30,000 yen. For box seats, currently "S seats" are the highest tier, but in Tokyo, a new "SS seat" for the first and second rows will be introduced. The highest price until now was 15,000 yen for S seats (weekends/holidays), but from now on, it will be 25,000 yen for SS seats (14th day and final day). The last change was in May of 2020, and there were fluctuations in the prices, but this time it is only an increase. Public relations director Fujishima Oyakata said, "We apologize. We know this will be an inconvenience, but we hope to repay you with high-quality sumo and excellent facilities." The price changes will only apply to Tokyo and Osaka; there will be no changes in Nagoya and Kyushu.
