Sekiwake Wakatakakage  who is aiming to solidify his position for promotion to Ozeki at the Nagoya basho , underwent a medical examination at a hospital today. On the 1st, he went to Sadogatake beya in Nagoya City for training along with his older brother, Wakamotoharu  and newcomer to Makuuchi, Daiseizan . He participated in keiko with 11 other rikishi he faced, and left the dohyo shaking his neck slightly. After that, he repeatedly showed signs of being concerned about his left thigh and left the keiko-ba without participating in any further bouts. According to Arashio Oyakata  he did not come down to the keiko-ba for the second consecutive day, going to a hospital for a checkup. "He complained of pain in his left thigh and is being examined at the hospital. We don't have all the details yet, so we'll talk to him next Monday or Tuesday," he explained. It is unusual for a rikishi to miss training for two consecutive days before a tournament that should be crucial for solidifying his position for promotion to Ozeki. The rikishi to watch at Nagoya may not only be failing to solidify his position, but his participation may even be in doubt.
