Aonishiki, the morning after

Sekiwake Aonishiki held a press conference today, the day after the final day of the tournament, at his lodgings on the Aichi Gakuin University campus. The day after his yusho, the first thing he was concerned about was the condition of his left foot. "I'm going to the hospital now to have my injury checked and I'll do my best to get treatment." He missed the entire May Tournament due to left ankle pain. He wasn't in perfect condition for the Nagoya Tournament, which he entered after being demoted from Ozeki, and he also injured his left big toe during the tournament. Nevertheless, he continued to mount the dohyo and won the yusho. He is also positive about participating in the Natsu Jungyo, which starts on August 2nd. "I want to participate fully in the tour and make everyone happy." When asked if he would participate from the beginning, he answered immediately, "Of course." Looking ahead to Aki basho, he said, "Healing is the most important thing," and added, "I want to heal properly, build up my body, and get good results in Aki." While continuing treatment and physical training, he is looking ahead to the next basho, where he will return as Ozeki.
