to Summons 2010
Before we decide on the list of colleges who are to be invited, we
must decide on accommodation. As has been our past experience, we have
not quite delivered the best of facilities, owing to the lack of rooms
etc. Lets practically look at the arrangements that can be made, and
based on that invite colleges. We can leave out on some colleges, and
concentrate on the good ones then. Also we must have a bus service
which can ferry these people to college incase we decide to put them
up somewhere outside.

Regarding the band, honestly it would be very difficult to gather
crowd for something like soulmate or dylan of shillong. We need events/
performances which have popular support but again there are hardly any
good bands. So i suggest we can split this in two where we have a good
english band performing but which is not that expensive and we can
have a dj like aquell/ivan or pearl who will take some 1 lakh, all in
all it must be done in about a lakh and 30 thousand. This will ensure
a good turnout at least. Sponsors for these events - look at a
newspaper/periodical (deccan herald/metro plus/outlook/india today), a
radio partner (radii=o city 91.1 whatte fun/big 92.7 fm etc.) and
others like dlf/gmr/odyssey/kingfisher/red bull etc.

I was also thinking if it would be possible to combine a sports fest,
since we have facilities for this, basketball, football, table
tennis, tennis, carom, chess and volleyball can be organised on campus,
this will make the entire event more fun. (read-sledging)

Also, did you guys think about the alumni association ball, which we
could have on the last day of summons since that is the most important
thing our college lacks more than summons, it'll require a lot of
persuasion and preparation, so please let me know.

Lexy,we ARE having sports events.I believe that Rhea is done with that list and Arani said that the L&D list was done.
I'm not in for 1 lakh for a DJ and 30g for a nice english band.
Fests tend to attract the more arty student population so I'm guessing that Soulmate would be popular. And we can just get the Ahala DJ in.He's good with crowd specific stuff. We know him.
Also,I'm leaving for Goa tomorrow morning and will not be back till the 27th.That in all probability means no internet access.
And wrt to Arani's other mail-if we do end up picking late March, then right now,we only compile a list of events, shortlist bands, and do sponsorship work. s there a core committee-what is the core committee?etc etc-distribution of labour-Organising etc can be done once everyone's present in college right after the exams say first Jan weekend.A vague accesibility-dependent decision making process is not something I'm cheering for.
