Dear Tanushree,
Hi, this is Arani Chakrabarty from NALSAR University of Law again. Firstly I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ogilvy for winning the top advertising agency award (7th time in a row as I understand). I write this mail to give you more details about the Summons'10 that may assist you in deciding as to the sponsorship and other details. You may already got this information in parts in our previous communications and this may be treated as a consolidated mail.
About NALSAR
NALSAR University is amongst India's top institutions for legal education. In the past, various surveys including India Today, Outlook and Mint have rated us amongst the two best law schools in the Country. The University prides itself in imparting quality legal education and has a vibrant student community. Located on a sprawling 40 acre campus, the University accommodates 400 students and has facilities for sports, conference halls and accommodation for outsiders.
The Summons
The University has two fests; the Summons (inter- collegiate) and Carpediem (Intra- collegiate). The Summons is an annual fest where in students from various Universities in the Country arrive at NALSAR to participate in a 3 day event that includes a host of sporting, cultural and literary and debating activities. Last year, we had representation from about 18 colleges with about 150-200 students itself participating in the events. The participation includes students from various law schools, IITs, Management Institutes and colleges in Delhi, Mumbai and other cities.
This year, we are scheduling the dates in such a manner so that they dont clash with the exams at other colleges; thereby increasing participation drastically. Our expectation would be around 300-400 students participating in the event.
The Events
The Summons has a variety of cultural, Sports and literary and debating activities. Our major events include the Parliamentary Debate, Quiz and the Group Dance. At nights, we have a Band coming down to the College Campus to play where people from all over hyderabad arrive as an audience. Bands like Indian Ocean, Strings and Jal have come in the past with about 1700- 2000 people attending.
This year, we plan to have a band concert and a DJ Night on two separate days. The University grounds itself are big enough to host the events.
The Budget
In the past, the Summons has had a budget of about 12-15 lakhs. This year, we plan to introduce a lot more events and invite other colleges thereby increasing the budget to about 20-25 lakhs. The money would be used as prize money, publicity and in organising the event(s) as such.
What we expect from Ogilvy
We understand that Ogilvy is the market leader in advertising and shares an exclusive clientelle that includes top brands and companies. What we were looking at is Ogilvy assisting us in securing sponsors for the event (including itself if possible). We were sincerely hoping big brands like Vodafone and the like sponsor the events.
In the past our sponsors have included Hero Honda, Lanco, Airtel, Zeus Associates etc..
As you can see, the Summons is a highly publicised event and we would appreciate any assistance from your side in this regard. I had written to you earlier requesting for a meeting with our Sponsorship Committee so that we could present a power-point slide-show of the previous Summonses to help you make your decision, and also give you a detailed list of events we plan to have, along with their profiles and a final list of the colleges we intend to invite. Any time next week would be okay with us, and if you are free, we would be more than happy to come over and talk things out in detail with you.
Looking forward to further communication from your side,
--
