Dear All,

Here's wishing you all a wonderful winter vacation. It gives me great pleasure to say, on behalf of the SBC, that Summons '10 is looking all set to happen next semester. We've started organising the events, contacting the sponsors and preparing the groundwork for what is easily going to be the biggest festival we've had thus far. The next few months look to be short but very hectic as we gear up to make all this happen.

In the midst of this activity, we've set up an email id, <summ...@gmail.com>, to deal exclusively with Summons-related correspondence. Our intention was to get as many new ideas as possible, from anyone who might be willing to spend a few minutes of their time writing them out, and so collect a vast pool of suggestions to build up the festival with. So, at the very outset, I would like to invite all of you to write in to the Summons account with any general ideas/suggestions/criticisms regarding how Summons is being or should be managed. We don't mark hate mail as spam.

More importantly, over the past week we've chalked out a number of Committees that we hope fairly covers each aspect of Summons and will ensure that it is taken care of. This list is attached in this mail. Please go through it, and contact your batch CulCom Rep. by Sunday, December 27 if you would like to help us out by getting involved with any one of these Committees (also specify which). We would welcome help from anybody and everybody willing to put in their efforts towards Summons. Needless to say all volunteers will receive certificates of appreciation.

Thirdly and lastly, before the Cultural Committee finalises the Events that will be a part of Summons '10, we would really like to run these events through the student boy and see if they can be added to or subtracted from. The logic behind this move was that since individuals have friends in colleges that have had memorable fests, or have themselves gone to fests and seen events that they particularly liked or thought were interesting, individuals should be able to give suggestions regarding the events. So please have a look at the draft list of events (also attached) and reply on this thread in your batch googlegroups with your suggestions (do not write to the summons mail id for events, since we wont be able to sort the random suggestion posts). Your batch CulCom rep will then forward this thread to the SBC and we'll collect all your ideas together. Once we have done that, we will hold a General Body meeting, where all the events will be voted upon, and the ones we want to finally include be decided.

We would deeply appreciate, therefore, if you could (1) make a mental note of the summons10 id; (2) sign up, if interested, as a volunteer to any one of the Committees by telling your batch CulCom rep; and (3) reply, if inspired, on this thread with suggestions about the Events.

Please cooperate with us in making this Summons memorable. We're all looking towards you to make it happen!

Warm Regards,
On behalf of the Student Bar Council,
