What, exactly, is a ZONE?

Think of ZONES as BANKS. A ZONE is nothing more than a "bank" of talkgroups or frequencies. When you change ZONES you change to another bank of TG's or frequencies. On the MD-380/390 every ZONE can have a maximum of 16 "slots" available to use. In an analog ZONE each of the 16 slots might contain a different repeater frequency to choose from or, in ARES case, a different PL for multiple repeaters on the same frequency that have different PL's for each repeater. In a digital ZONE you would have multiple TG's to choose from. You can mix and match analog frequencies with digital TG's in a single ZONE.
