It's Starting!

Hello friends,

Hope you all have been doing well finishing out the semester, graduating, and starting new jobs.

I just picked up my copy of Unaccustomed Earth, and I'm thinking that around now would be an okay time to start this group up.

I don't think we should wait until everyone has read the book to start discussing because that'll never work out, so since I expect this to be a quick read, we should just try and keep the discussion continuous for the next week or so. My only "rule"/request is that if you're discussing a particular story or chapter of a book, it would be helpful and non-spoilerish to indicate which chapter/story you're discussing in the subject line. So, if I want to discuss one of Lahiri's stories and something crazy that happened, it'd be better to allude to it in the subject line rather than say "XYZ DIED OMG!"

Right, anyway. Aside from that, I don't care what we talk about. It could just be a review, it could be a question, it could be  one of us complaining about Lahiri's gimmicks....whatever. Also, if you'd like to send "life" updates, that would also be cool. For example, I'm leaving for Raleigh Monday, and I'm still not done with final papers. Depressing.

E-mail summerb...@googlegroups.com for a new posting. Just hit reply if you want to respond to anyone else's, and it should go to the entire book group. (In other words, don't hit reply and say something mean about someone on the list because everyone will get it.)

sorry i've been out of commission, i've been away on a family vacation which put me out of reach of the internet GASP! i had no gmail for an entire week T.T
