Hello Sir/Mam,
I have a very keen desire to participate for Gallery under Gsoc .I
propose an idea where functionality like DRAG-DROP of images can be
implemented(like we can do in Google Gadgets)..also features like
increasing size of images when mouse hovers over it can be
implemented .this will improve user experience ..
or perhaps feature like Google LABELER can b implemented which will
improve searches to high extent , as the tags are set by users
itself,though some constraints will be implemented too .
I am very much interested in the SLIDESHOW IDEA mentioned on gallary's
page , extra functionality can be added to the same...
....looking forward for some mentor..thanks

You should hop on IRC and talk with some of the developers about your
ideas. What you've explained so far won't be enough to be accepted,
but a refined version might.

1. I'm not sure what you mean by drag-drop of images (we already have
drag-drop reordering of images in albums, and drag-drop uploading with
the upload applet)

2. tagging areas of images would be useful and has been often requested.

3. We're now using the piclens slideshow which will be included with
Gallery 2.3 (you can check out a nightly build or subversion to see!)
and likely won't accept a project to do another slideshow. Yes, we
know the ideas page needs to be updated.
