Good afternoon:
I hope you are all hanging in there and taking good care of you and your loved ones. This email confirms that you have signed up for our Summer 2020 Opportunities listserv. If at any point you would like to opt off of this list, please email me.
We are working around the clock to try to create more summer job opportunities for 1Ls and 2Ls who currently have no summer job lined up. As we learn of these opportunities, I will be sending messages to this list on a rolling basis.
To date, our heroic faculty have created 13 new summer RA positions that are available to 1Ls and 2Ls who currently have no summer employment.
You can find all of the information about these opportunities here.
If we receive more summer RA postings from faculty, I will send a message to this group reminding everyone to check the list for new announcements. I will also make clear either here and/or on the sheet itself the name of the professor offering the new RA position.
In your cover letters, you should feel free to share with the professor(s) to whom you are applying that you have no summer employment lined up. And if your summer program was cancelled, you should include that information as well.
I am also including a NEW remote summer job opportunity we just received from a non-profit (see below).
If you should have any questions, please contact me.
Take good care and be safe!
Eric
Duration of Summer Internship: May 26 - August 7, 2020
interACT: Advocates for Intersex Youth seeks a legal intern to support the work of our Law & Policy team while gaining specialized knowledge and experience in intersex advocacy as well as related fields such as healthcare, reproductive justice, disability rights, and LGBTQ+ issues.
interACT is an entirely remote organization, the oldest and largest nonprofit working exclusively on intersex issues. Founded fifteen years ago by Berkeley Law professor and alum Anne Tamar-Mattis, the organization works to advance the rights of youth born with intersex traits (variations in chromosomes, genitals, internal reproductive organs, or hormones). Our Law & Policy team uses strategies including legislative advocacy, medical policy advocacy, community education, and direct engagement with healthcare providers to achieve our goal of ensuring intersex individuals are free from discrimination, particularly in healthcare settings.
Individual interest and external developments will determine an intern's projects, which could include: legal research, writing, and analysis regarding the applicability of new laws and regulations to the intersex community; contributing to amicus briefs in matters in which interACT has an interest; assisting with the development of new legislation; preparing reports to human rights committees; assisting with outreach to, and organization of, allied communities; or research and drafting related to ethics and/or state medical board complaints.
Familiarity with intersex issues is preferred, but not required. Interns who are new to the subject may be given a reading list to complete during their first workweek.
To apply, please send a resume and cover letter explaining your interest in working with interACT to: sfr...@interACTadvocates.org.
