(2) If you have not yet lined up a summer job of any kind and are interested in applying for the opportunity below, please email me directly.  It is an Edley Grant eligible position for those 1Ls who have no summer employment whatsoever.  One of our alums clerked for this judge and had very positive things to say about her experience.

Applications must be submitted ASAP and by no later than 5/13 and should consist of ONE PDF packet with a cover letter, resume and unofficial transcript.

Summer Judicial Externship Opportunity

Because the COVID-19 pandemic has left many first-year law students without summer internships, Chief Judge Sara Darrow (CD. IL) has created a virtual summer internship program. 

She will provide video access to her hearings, meet by video with the interns for Q & A sessions before and after the hearings, and assign research projects to each intern.   

Due to the number of interns, Judge Darrow won't be able to offer substantive edits of the interns' legal memoranda.  However, the students will have an opportunity to view hearings and ask questions about the legal procedures and substantive law at issue, work on pending motions, and draft memoranda that can be used as writing samples.
