Attribution is appreciated but not required. We love seeing what you create with Mixkit sound effects and video assets, so if you would like to share the love you can tag @mixkit_co on Instagram & Twitter or feature a link back to mixkit.co.

All our free sounds and music are safe to use for any non-commercial and commercial use, even for broadcast. We check every file for quality and we only add content we, or our contributors recorded themselves.

However, the main reason that audio files are normally larger than static images is because audio files have an extra dimension, time, and therefore there is more overall data to represent. If you add time as a dimension to an image, you get video, which even without audio is much larger than an audio file.

Audio files aren't always larger than images though. Compression is the key factor, some image files are actually quite large if they're uncompressed and have a large color range (like HDR). An RAW uncompressed 2048*2048 image with 40-bits of color per pixel could take up to 168MB of space. Most songs you'd listen to would take up far less space than that, because MP3/AAC files are compressed.

Where an image is a large grid of colored pixels, sound is recorded through soundwaves, which can differ from high-low pitches, loud/soft sound, tone, frequency, and bit depth. And that's a lot of data you hear in one second.

So what I was planning to do was loop over a list which contains path to my sound files and play them using pygame.mixer module in python, but when I did this the problem I encountered was pygame always play the last most index path file from the list, and rest were skipped. Example if my list contains 2 items:

I am trying to make an application with sound. I have asked a question before how to add sound to an app in Xcode but every time I run the app, the console throws this error, MagicSound.wav does not exist in main bundle when writing my code I basically told the program to crash the application and write MagicSound.wav does not exist in main bundle if it comes to be true. My question is how do you add a file (specificallya sound file) to your bundle in Xcode. I always assumed putting a file in your assets is the same thing as putting it in your bundle.

This answer is top of Google searching for 'How to add sound files to your bundle in Xcode?', so to help rookies like me, here is step by step how you add sounds to your bundle in Xcode. (Short answer, just drag them into the sidebar and check the 'Copy items if needed')

Another thing to add, in addition to the other answers here is that when you import, you need to make sure it's copied to your app, in "Add to targets". This accomplishes the sound file being in "the list of items under your target's Build Phases -> Copy Bundle Resources setting."

SoundBible.com offers free sound clips for download in either wav or mp3 format. Hi, I have a very large power point presentation. Each file has also got sound. The sound works when the file is opened in powerpoint. I have opened the file in Libreoffice and I cannot see how to play the sound. When I start from the first slide to play there is no sound either. I read on one forum that the issue might be the way the file is saved or the version of power point that it was saved in. Can anyone throw any insight on the issue for me as if I know it is an issue with the file itself I will look for other options. Thank you for your time.

Thank you so much for your help. I also received a response from another email list I found on this website. It solves my problem for now, at least I know I can go back and ask my client to save it in a different format and the sound will work fine. Excellent support forums Thank you for the great software.

"Hi
The .pptX, .docX and such are notoriously unreliable. The files should all
still have their sound and work properly if you play them using the same
version of MS Office that was used to create them, and on the same OS.
Using a different version of MS Office or any other program can mean the
documents are not displayed properly or function properly.

If you have pre-existing audio (like an edited podcast, interview, or voice memo), you can upload your audio files to your Spotify for Podcasters account to create new episodes of your podcast. You can also check out how to upload video episodes if you have or want to create a video podcast.

You can import video files in H.264-encoded files (such as MP4). You can import audio files in MP3 format. Media file types such as QuickTime (.MOV), AVI, and MPEG are supported in exported interactive PDF files. We recommend that you use file formats such as MP4 and MP3 to take full advantage of the rich media support offered in Acrobat 9 and Adobe Reader 9 or later.

Keep track of the media files you add to an InDesign document during the production cycle. If you move a linked media clip after adding it to the document, use the Links panel to relink it. If you send the InDesign document to another person, include any media files you add.

A poster is the image that represents a media clip. Each movie or sound can appear with or without a poster. If the poster in InDesign is larger than the movie, the poster is clipped to the size of the movie in the exported PDF. Specify any of the following types of poster images in the Media panel:

Shows no poster for the movie or sound clip. This optionis useful if you want the movie or sound clip to not be visibleon the page. For example, you may want the media to be played onlywhen you turn the page, or you may want a more complex design beneaththe movie to show instead of the poster.

Play the movie in a separate window. If you select this option, specify the size ratio and position on the screen. Increasing the size of the floating window may reduce image quality. The floating window scale is based on the size of the original movie, not the size of the scaled movie in the document layout. This option is not available for audio files.

Not sure if this is legal or not, but I just want to include the cool sounding weapon and spell effects in my DnD game on FGU. I wanted to spoil my players with automatic triggers for everything they do, so its a bit more immersive. Anybody know how do I get those effects as sound files?

* When you are using Windows 7 running on a virtual machine (VM), the QuickTime Player is required to be installed for playing MP4 video files. (Read Download QuickTime for Windows, on the Apple site, for more information.)

Windows Media files (.wmv, .wma) aren't supported on PowerPoint for macOS. There are a number of third- party tools for Mac that can convert your .wmv or .wma file to one of the supported formats listed above.

(Used alone, this option means the looping sound lasts while the slide it resides on is being shown. When Loop Until Stopped is used in tandem with Play Across Slides, the looping sound continues throughout the presentation.)

Please find here the sounds for the LokSound V3.5 decoder, LokSound XL V3.5, LokSound micro V3.5, LokSound M4 V3.0 and LokSound V3.0 decoder. You also find here sounds for many locos of Brawa, Mehano, Roco, etc.

The LokSound2 decoder was introduced in 2001 and was a huge success: It was installed in many locos, e. g. Mehano or Roco. Here you find all sounds for the second generation of LokSound - also for XL V2.1.

In 1999, the LokSound "classic" decoder laid the foundations for ESU: He was not only the first LokSound decoder in due time, but also one of the first ESU products for model railway. Here you can still download appropriate sounds for your locos.

A: Asset catalogs allow you to manage your app resources. They can include files such as icons, images, audio and video files, and watch complications. See Xcode Help > Work with Assets > Asset Catalogs for more information about asset catalogs.

Asset catalogs use data sets to create and manage audio files. See Xcode Help > Work with Assets > Asset Catalogs > Create a data set for more information on how to use them to add your audio files as shown in Figure 1.

BWF (Broadcast Wave Format) is a standard audio format created by the European Broadcasting Union as a successor to WAV. Among other enhancements, BWF allows more robust metadata to be stored in the file. See European Broadcasting Union: Specification of the Broadcast Wave Format (EBU Technical document 3285, July 1997). This is the primary recording format used in many professional audio workstations in the television and film industry. BWF files include a standardized timestamp reference which allows for easy synchronization with a separate picture element. Stand-alone, file based, multi-track recorders from AETA,[1] Sound Devices,[2] Zaxcom,[3] HHB Communications Ltd,[4] Fostex, Nagra, Aaton,[5] and TASCAM all use BWF as their preferred format.

Uncompressed audio formats encode both sound and silence with the same number of bits per unit of time. Encoding an uncompressed minute of absolute silence produces a file of the same size as encoding an uncompressed minute of music. In a lossless compressed format, however, the music would occupy a smaller file than an uncompressed format and the silence would take up almost no space at all.

Lossless compression formats include FLAC, WavPack, Monkey's Audio, ALAC (Apple Lossless). They provide a compression ratio of about 2:1 (i.e. their files take up half the space of PCM). Development in lossless compression formats aims to reduce processing time while maintaining a good compression ratio.
