If you want to be save and do not want to take care of all this desaster - use specially for small enterprises and privat use machines, who are not effected - EspressoBin and Pine Rock64 - the price of the Rock64 went down recently and Armbian has the perfect images for them -

This means, that your PC running any version of SliTaz is probably affected and in potential danger - a list of cpus, who are not affected you find here: -unaffected-meltdown-spectre/

MOST IMPORTANT - use always the latest browser - I recommend Firefox with add-on uBlock Origin - also the add-on NoScript is helpful, but it ships now with a list of whitelisted (trusted) domains. You cannot remove these anymore, but you can change the state of them. So, setting them all to default will do the trick, but it would obviously be better if you could just throw these out instead - so just use it, when you know, what you do.

A 32bit kernel update is in preparation - initial patches have been posted to the kernel mailing lists, but it will be probably just in kernel 4.14 only - so I think only available in future SliTaz next version.

Until now no solution - this will be a future mix between hardware and software updates - BIOS updates (please always use the newest BIOS / UEFI firmware for your mainboard or laptop) and microcode installs.

And I think, it will be ready until Intel will fix its patches - Intel urges halt to installing its Meltdown/Spectre patches from January whithout any new release date - alls updateds are "TBD" (to be determined)

The problem here is, that Intel patches until now only CPUs newer than 2013 - this means, that probably all older Intel CPUs will never get save again - I think, that this is important to know for all users of SliTaz, who often use older machines.....

SliTaz offers with frugal installation - :guides:frugal - and tazusb a very good answer against attacks. every reboot your SliTaz is the same as on the day of your 1. boot, and when you regulary backup your /home partition, its very easy to restore everything. I had quite a lot of attacks on my audio-monuments, I run with SliTaz - just reboot and finished.

You can't use them with SliTaz - sad but true, because SliTaz would be perfect, but all of them, you can use with armbian and Arch Linux ARM. There are phones, tablets, mainboards and small entire computers. The side effect of this ARM-devices is, that they are - compared to any older computers on the non affected list - very efficiant - most of them consume max. 6W - especially important, when you run them 24 hours every day.

What I recommand is, that you look, that your device has kernel mainline support - this means, that you are not stuck in any unsupported propriatary kernel line - you find on a button mainline - I just give you a short list of the most interesting - all mainline:

on the Banana use PostgeSQL not mysql or mariadb, then its quite ok and Libre tells, that Rengarde has real USB 3.0, but until now, no reviews, but it should be the same as the Rock64 (5 x quicker read/writes than the Banana) and the EspressoBin seems to have extreme good reads/writes ( )

Here is a review with specs: -beelink-a1/ of the Android TV Boxes the Beelink A1 is quite new and it has USB 3.0, but no infos about linux until now, but the same cpu as the Libre-Board Renegade and the most interesting is the Zido H6 Pro with Allwinner H6 CPU - this little thing has very good benchmark - and USB 3.0 and PCIe 2.0, but mainline kernel just started - - -sunxi.org/H6
lets hope for a nice board with good passive cooler and the possibility to plug in a Crest 4-port SATA III PCIe 2.0 x2 Controller.

For those who are like me, and just hate the hipster code names, and
would rather have the actual Atom model nomenclature as quoted in spec sheets and everywhere else,
here is a link to look that up:

I am using IC514 and MMSIM latest version. While i try to make a simple inverter to check the UMC 90nm desigkit. I couldn't able to finish simulation. When i try to netlist and run here returns a message

I think that this would be a good place to start. I not sure I would expect to see an "OSSHNL" message for instances to be netlisted using the spectre netlister, perhaps this is the problem (the wrong netlister function or method)?

I've got same problem using the umc90nm design kit and it can be remedied by editing the CDF for the respective components. After starting icfb, goto Tools-> CDF-> Edit and select the cell. When the Edit Component CDF appears, scroll down to to Simulation info and add D G S B to the spectre textbox.

It is a geographical certainty that when two dissimilar environments occur in the same bit of ocean they must meet at some point. That is exactly what happens in the brilliant waters of the Northern Channel Islands. This island chain off the coast of Southern California includes from east to west Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and San Miguel. Here the warmer currents from the south meet the colder, nutrient rich waters from the north. The resulting mix supports kelp forests, marine mammals, and endless varieties of fish and plants. Divers who explore the waters of the world return to these islands for their extreme diversity and the certainty that no two dives will be quite the same. With visibility averaging 40 feet and often much greater, hundreds of miles of shoreline, and large well equipped boats offering dives all year, a channel Islands trip should be on every divers schedule. Anacapa is the closest to shore of all eight islands when departing from Ventura Harbor. Santa Cruz is the next in the chain. The Spectre dive boat can reach Anacapa in an hour and 15 minutes.

The bottom is rocky reef and sand. Some spots offer kelp forests, walls, and pinnacles. Hundreds of plants and small animals share the reefs with many varieties of fish including kelp bass, sheepshead, and garibaldi. It is not unusual to spot sea lions, seals, lobsters, bat rays, horn sharks, moray eels, and occasionally giant black sea bass as well as blacksmith perch, sardines, mackerel, anchovies, and other small schooling fish. The more you look the more you see unguided!

California dive boats do not provided guides. We anchor on the dive sites, no drift diving, so divers stay near the boat. However guests are welcome to hire their own guide. For more information go to:

It is almost impossible not to ask how things will be for the day you choose to dive, even when divers know how uncertain predictions can be. Dive trips run all year so here are some very general guidelines. Water temperature is coldest from February to May varying between 56 and 62 degrees. From June to September, it will range from 62 to as high as 70 then slowly begin to drop. October through January finds the water in the low 60s to high 50s. These temperatures are for Anacapa and Santa Cruz. Air temperature runs 60 to 75 in the summer and fall and in the 50s in the winter and spring. Visibility rarely goes below 10 feet and can be as high as 100 feet. The average is 40 feet and on most days the bottom is visible from the boat.

The entire north side of Anacapa Island is a marine protected area where hunting and fishing are not allowed. This makes Anacapa a favorite dive destination because there is so much life. Most trips include dives both in and out of the reserves.

Anacapa and Santa Cruz are great for both macro and wide-angle photography and the Spectre has a camera rinse tank, tables to change lenses, and abundant 110volt outlets for recharging batteries. All the photos on this website were taken at Anacapa island, most by underwater photographer Doug Klug. (Divers can Google Doug Klug for more great photos.)

Hunting is allowed on the Spectre but dive sites are chosen for best conditions, which means some or all the dives may be in marine protected areas. A California fishing license is required. Lobster season varies each year but it starts near the beginning of October and runs until mid-March. Fish and rock scallops may be taken all year. If you dive primarily to hunt let us know and we can offer suggestions.

For first time dives in California, Anacapa is the best choice. It is close to the mainland and offers a perfect introduction to California diving. There is something for everyone and local divers choose Anacapa again and again.

A new proof of concept (PoC) exploit called iLeakage has been demonstrated by a group of US and German university professors to steal sensitive user data from Apple devices by improving on side-channel attack techniques used by Spectre and MeltDown, which alarmed CISOs when the vulnerabilities first surfaced in 2018.

While the researchers remain unaware of any iLeakage exploitation in the wild, and note it would take a high level of technical understanding to recreate it, they point out that their novel exploit uncovers vulnerabilities to side-channel attacks that still exist.

Side channel attacks exploit systems that leak data in different ways. In the case of iLeakage, essentially an improved version of Spectre and MeltDown, the side channel that is targeted is derived from CPU microarchitecture.

As with Spectre and MeltDown side channel attacks, iLeakage targets a widely known vulnerability that exploits the so-called speculative execution mechanism in modern processors, which Apple silicon also use. The speculative execution process allows CPUs to execute predicted tasks before they have been actually asked to do so, in order to have some output ready when the program needs it.

Attacks that exploit speculative execution employ software that force CPUs to execute a flow of instructions that may depend on sensitive data, which then is stored in temporary caches. These attacks then use the caches as side channels from which they exfiltrate the sensitive information.
