Dear Sulu DC Fans & Friends,
Sulu DC is officially on Twitter! Follow us at @suludc.
Did you know that Sulu DC's home base,
Artisphere, was just voted Best New Venue in the
Washington CityPaper? One of the reasons we love our home is they allow us a platform to tell our unique stories. Sulu DC & Artisphere want to share a story with you, a story about a man known as the "loudspeaker" for the Burmese people, Zarganar.
Zarganar's weapons? Satire, books, film, poetry and comedy. For this reason,
Sulu DC is delighted to shine light on this heroic man’s personal narrative, which combines art and activism.
UK director Rex Bloomstein's feature documentary, “This Prison Where I Live,” includes footage from Burma that has NEVER BEEN SEEN or broadcast before in the U.S. “This Prison Where I Live” follows the story of Germany's leading stand-up comic, Michael Mittermeier, as he explores the personality, the motivation and the talent of Maung Thura, better known as Zarganar, Burma's greatest living comic. This is a film about two comedians joined by comedy and separated by repression.
ZARGANAR HAS BEEN CONDEMNED TO 59 YEARS IN PRISON. Find out what's next ... Purchase your ticket today!
