“Many men do not struggle because they cannot feel.

They struggle because they were never given permission to.”

Dear Co-Traveller,

For many men, emotional suppression begins early.

From childhood, boys are often taught directly or indirectly - to hide fear, soften grief, control tears, suppress vulnerability, and carry pain silently. Over time, this can create deep emotional disconnection, not because emotions disappear, but because expressing them no longer feels safe.

What we call “shutting down” is often a protective response. A survival strategy.
A nervous system adaptation developed over years of needing to stay strong, capable, or unaffected.

From Suppression to Expression: It’s Time to Feel is a trauma-sensitive online workshop created to offer men a safe and compassionate space to reconnect with their emotional world gently and without pressure.

This workshop is not about forcing vulnerability or emotional release.

Instead, it is about understanding:

  • why emotions become suppressed

  • how shame impacts emotional expression

  • how the body stores stress and emotional tension

  • what safety and authentic expression can begin to feel like again

Together, we will explore these themes through guided reflection, nervous system awareness, gentle experiential practices, and compassionate inquiry.

This space welcomes all levels of readiness.

You are not expected to share personal experiences publicly. You are welcome to participate quietly, keep your camera off, reflect privately, or simply observe.

The intention is to create emotional safety first- because authentic expression can only emerge when the nervous system no longer feels threatened.

This workshop may support men who:

  • feel emotionally disconnected or numb

  • carry stress, anger, sadness, or overwhelm internally

  • struggle to express emotions openly

  • often feel pressure to “hold it all together”

  • long for deeper self-understanding and emotional connection

No prior experience is needed. Only a willingness to arrive as you are.

Because healing does not begin when we force ourselves to open. It begins when we finally feel safe enough to stop hiding.
