Thinspiration is content advocating extreme weight loss by means of images and/or text posts. While past content analyses have examined thinspiration content on social media and other websites, no research to date has examined thinspiration content on Tumblr. Over the course of a week, 222 images and text posts were collected after entering the keyword 'thinspiration' into the Tumblr search bar. These images were then rated on a variety of characteristics. The majority of thinspiration images included a thin woman adhering to culturally based beauty, often posing in a manner that accentuated her thinness or sexuality. The most common themes for thinspiration text posts included dieting/restraint, weight loss, food guilt, and body guilt. The thinspiration content on Tumblr appears to be consistent with that on other mediums. Future research should utilize experimental methods to examine the potential effects of consuming thinspiration content on Tumblr.

Somehow my tumblr theme is overriding the formatting I have done to my texts posts (in html). It has decided to unbold everything that was bolded and make everything the same size, even though there was header text in the post. In tumblr itself you see it just like it was formatted to be seen, but in the tumblr theme (blog) everything appears the same format even though it isn't.

Cutting posts is the act of removing older replies on a thread when reblogging it. This goes by several other terms, including trimming replies/reblogs or any variation of that wording, but I will be referring to it as cutting posts to avoid confusion with the Trim Reblogs extension, which will be coming up a lot.

no, alt text and image descriptions serve the same purpose, but they are different in how they are presented. Alt text, short for alternative text, is included in the html of an image and can be read by a screen reader. However, there are many reasons why many prefer image descriptions over alt text.

Everyone who is able to should create image descriptions. A content creator is best able to communicate the message of their work through text, as they are the one who created it and thus understand its message the best. While of course it takes practice when starting out, over time image descriptions become second nature when posting visual content. Always check the notes of a tumblr post for an ID rather than reblogging without one.

Visit your Tumblr Dashboard page and tap or click "Text" to view the editing box that enables you to create text posts. Type a title for your post in the "Title" text box and position your cursor in the larger text box below the Title text box.

Tumblr has a lot of qualities I look for in a social media platform. It allows and even encourages long stretches of text in posts. Comments are pushed to the posts themselves, and the best ones get recirculated, creating some of the most iconic moments in internet history. Tumblr has its own culture, and it doesn't allow rancid places like Twitter to bleed all over what they've so carefully curated over many years. If you love Tumblr, take a trip down memory lane with some iconic Tumblr posts.

Everytime i see you reblog some of your older bigger pieces, i just take a few minutes to stare and admire them. You never know when you see stuff again on tumblr, and god i wanna stare at them more often.

Blogs with large numbers of posts (over 5000 posts) will find this most noticeable. The app uses the Tumblr API which has minute/hour rate limits. When the site is busy we sometimes hit this rate limit. Please be patient or come back again later. If the problem persists please send me a message using the link below.

A place to "effortlessly share anything. Post text, photos, quotes, links, music, and videos from your browser, phone, desktop, email, or wherever you happen to be. You can customize everything, from colors to your theme's HTML.

You don't even have to have an account to see the grand world of Tumblr. The website is easy to navigate and you learn more as you go on, building your page and gaining followers. Like Twitter, you can reblog (retweet) and like (favourite) different posts, adding your own comments too! You can directly 'ask' people questions and follow blogs. You can search for a tag to see all the posts under that tag, and that's where the community you want to join will be found!

From playful jokes to help with confusing grammar from native speakers, the sky is the limit over on Tumblr. There are videos, text posts, photos, and links to other websites. You'll find a lot of relatable posts made by other people in the same position as you, which are bound make you laugh. I can't count the times I've read a post and in my head I'm thinking, 'Oh my gosh, this person is me!'.

Tumblr is your canvas. Post text, photos, GIFs, videos, live videos, audio, anything. Applets can bring content to your Tumblr from all your different social medias, and help you manage your Tumblr likes.

One of the greatest memes that Tumblr has provided the world with are short text posts laid over pictures featuring your favorite characters from film, television, and video games. The Star Wars Text Post Twitter gathers them all in one place for you to peruse.

Tumblr is a microblogging platform that allows its users to post text, photos, quotes, links, music and videos from a browser, phone, desktop and email. Tumblr combines blogging and social networking in a single platform. It is this dual nature that sets Tumblr apart: in addition to functioning in the traditional blog format, Tumblr also displays content as a stream, much like the news feeds of popular social networks. Users often discover stories through this stream of content.

If you are trying to reach teens and young adults with photo-focused blog posts, Tumblr may serve as an ideal platform. Tumblr is also a useful social network for repurposing stories and content by others that align with your mission, cause and interests.

Tumblr is a blogging platform that can be used to engage with readers, share content, and connect with other writers. With Tumblr, users can post photographs, videos, quotes, links, music, and text posts.

The funniest text posts are relatable, something normal, everyday people can connect with. A common style of text posts, and writing on the internet in general, is dropping capitalization and punctuation, or adding capitalization and extra punctuation to achieve a certain tone. For comedic effect, people often intentionally misspell words.

Most often these text posts are short, written and stylized for humor. Puns, as seen above, are common, as well as relatable, every day humor. Some of my personal favorites are awkward moments people share with each other:

Microblogging is a short blog post designed for quick and typically direct audience interactions. These concise blogs are shared using social media platforms like Twitter or Instagram, and can include different content formats such as audio, text, images or video.

Microblogging is a fast way to communicate with audiences. As opposed to writing pages of text like in a traditional blog, a microblog enables quick conversational posts with others. For brands, it can be a way to make product announcements or clarifications, link to longer content posts, seem more personable or engage in conversations with customers.

In the U.S., for example, former President Barack Obama microblogged during his campaigns using Twitter, one of the most popular microblogging sites. Traditional media organizations, including The New York Times and the Advanced Press, send headlines and links in microblog posts. Other potential applications of microblogging include live traffic reports, sports updates and emergency broadcast messages.

Because traditional blogs are longer, they typically contain more in-depth and information-rich content. Blogging sites can also provide instructional resources or provide commentary on a topic. With the limited number of characters, microblogs create quick interactions with an audience and focus on a specific topic or message. They are also conducive to mobile platforms, where short posts can be created and shared quickly while on the go.

The first step in creating an effective microblog is to choose the platform it will be posted on. The platform selected should fit the type of content to be posted. For example, if an image is the central part of the microblog, then the post would work best on Twitter or Instagram, even though a microblogging site like Facebook would also work. Likewise, short videos work best on TikTok or as a Reel on Instagram. Text posts work well on platforms like Facebook or Twitter, and strictly business -- typically business-to-business -- posts perform best on LinkedIn.
