If you experience random crashes while playing a game, you can always verify that your game files are installed correctly. Your Red Dead Redemption 2 may crash if the game files are missing or corrupt, so you can try verifying the game integrity to restore these files.
NVIDIA and AMD keep releasing drivers to fix bugs and improve game performance. To get the latest graphics driver, you can go to its official website to download exactly the right driver and install it manually.
There might be other conflicting applications preventing your Red Dead Redemption from working properly, you can try performing a lean boot to see if you can play Red Dead Redemption without any crash. Here is how to do it:
Fortect Windows Repair is tailored to your specific system and is working in a private and automatic way. It will first check hardware-related issues to identify problems, and then security issues (powered by Avira Antivirus), and finally it detects programs that crash, missing system files. Once complete, it will find a solution to your specific problem.
Hopefully, one of the fixes above solved your Red Dead Redemption 2 crashing issue. If the RDR2 crashing issue still persists, you could do a clean reinstall of your game, update Bios (though it has varying success), or just wait for the next game patch.
I did some googling and apparently this is due to server demand on Rockstar's end. It's happened every time I've tried playing since I was able to update to 1.09 (Spring update) yesterday. I send a report through PSN each time. It really sucks because I just get into enjoying myself and it happens.
I got killed by two griefers in Valentine's Smithfield Saloon so me and another blueberry tag teamed the griefing duo. We wiped them both out and one came back, I capped him off the rooftop of the stable and I was LOVING it because I wasn't getting a hostility increase or bounty since they started it. then my game crashed for the second time in 2 hours.
How do you suggest I report it to Rockstar? It doesn't seem to fit as a bug as it can't really positively be reproduced, I was doing something different each time it happened.
Glad this thread is useful!
This is too much of a coincidence IMO to just write off that it's my system given the issue first popped up in RDR2 just after the update like several folks here. If any of you are experiencing the problem in other games as well now, please let me know.
UPDATE: I have my kid playing on another saved game and so far, no errors after 20 minutes. Sound like corrupted save files? I even reinstalled the game and had the same crashes on the save file he was previously trying to play.
I tried reporting it as a bug but there was an error with my submission. It kept telling me to recheck the fields and try again but perhaps my explanation was simply too brief.
Was just playing again since my last post, did a mission, got the letter from Horley out at Benedict Point, and read it, then it crashed again. Super frustrating.
1. Close the application, install the latest System Software and game updates and restart the system.
2. If you have upgraded the Hard Disk Drive ("HDD") in your system, please re-install the original HDD.
3. If the error occurs again, back up your saved data, and then go to [Settings] > [Initialization] and choose [Initialize PS4].
4. If the error occurs with every application, or as soon as the application starts, please contact PlayStation Support.
Needless to say I responded telling her no way was I going to initialize my system because ther game is not working correctly. I also told them about everyone else here who is experiencing the same problem, the same error code and all of us right after the last title update. I'm waiting for a response back but I won't let it rest.
I will escalate if I have to. Quite frankly, I have no idea why that one save file from my son in Micrecraft was similarly affected. However, my other games are not as I've been able to play them without issue. .....I set RDR2 aside again because of this issue.
Yeah, there's absolutely no way I'm gonna do that. Has anybody spent time in Singleplayer post-update to see if that is affected as well? I want to say it's solely a RDO issue.
I messaged a friend on PSN who's been playing RDO lots lately, he hasn't had any crashes, just one or two server disconnects - so not everyone is affected but definitely a sizable number of users.
This error is a big ???????????? Question mark,. It sometimes pops up if you try playing Sleeping Dogs tested on several consoles and drives, always popping up probably bug in coding the game, Witcher 3o is affected as well by this error , I think games with this error should get updates from publishers but I f the game is not supported anymore than we all got some crap (sorry CDP)
Well, the initialization took 10 minutes including setting up a few things since it pretty much puts everything back to default. I'll check the one save my son was having a problem with in Minecraft later and then RDO as well.
There are two options btw when you initialize. You can initialize and reinstall the system software or just initialize. I chose the latter for now. I may go back and do the reinstall of the system software if this doesn't work. If it does then it may be that my system code was corrupt or my HDD. .....could still be the HDD.
If I had this error any time before this I would most likely be looking at my HDD as the culprit. It amy still be but it just seems odd that it started at the same time as everyone else here (after the RDO update).
had the same issue since i started the game. pretty sure it's rockstar's problem cause i havent this prob on any other game. rdr2 crashes, disconnects, freezes and all that stuff. even now it disconnected me about 5-10 mins after every login. gues what...saturday night-->many people in-->fresh update from R*-->cannot manage yet. tough luck.
I managed an hour and 20 minutes before I crashed again. Right after I finished my first Stranger mission from the Aberdeen farmers... ? I did Jessica LeClerk's new mission before that without issue.
I don't know how Sony engineers interpret this error but every single PS4 I came into contact gave this error now and then while playing Sleepingmdogs it's not her or a corrupt save or any other files imo
That code is fairly general. I'm sure I've had it before but just never noticed what exactly the code was because it was a rare occurrence. Over the past 4 days is a different story though. I've never had this many blue screen crashes before.

I started getting the error last night. Once I started getting it, I could not get more then 2-5mins of game time before it would crash. Crashed about 4 times before I gave up. Crashed 3 more times this morning. I uninstalled RDR2 and reinstalled...kept crashing. Backed everything up then went to setting > system > Full Initialization. Rebooted, Restored safe games form USB and installed RDR2(CD), Lego Star Wars (download), and Dragon Quest (CD). Only RDR2 crashed. Did the same steps above again but did the quick Initialization and did NOT restore from USB backup. RDR2 installed again...still crashing. I contacted Sony tech support and they are having me do the following.
Sony: "#7 in safe mode, which is the full initialization with the software for the console on a USB. For the re-installation, you will need a USB between 2-8 GB, and the update file that is 900+MB, you will follow the steps under "Perform a New Installation of the System Software":
Did all the above and reinstalled Lego Star Wars and Dragon Quest and they worked fine again, played both for about 30 mins no issue. Right now I am installing RDR2 again! Lets see what happens this time.
Update 5/19. Played for about 6 hours after the above solution and with zero crashes.
i have an rx 6600 xt 16 gb of ram and a ryzen 7 5700 x cpu. ever since i got this computer around late january (it's prebuilt) i have been having issues with it crashing on more demanding games. if i try to play star wars battlefront 2 on higher settings it will crash, same with battlefield 1 and red dead redemption 2 along with some other titles. recently i have tried playing battlefield 2042 during the free weekend and i won't even be able to make it past the first loading screen. i have tried overclocking and underclocking the gpu, i have tried a clean install of many different drivers using ddu. i tried rolling back windows to before the crashes started happening (they started after about a week). there are definitely other things i have tried but i just can't remember right now. could this be a hardware related issue? i'm really annoyed that i got this computer to play all of the games my **bleep**ty laptop couldn't only to be cockblocked by AMD
Well rustle my hard drive, Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally on PC. Yee-haw, and all that. Thing is, some gunslingers out there are spreading word that this ain't the sturdiest horse they've seen. From loading screen crashes to problems with Rockstar's game launcher, RDR 2 on PC is proving to be a grumpy ol' mule indeed.
