When you're used to adding text to images with specific fonts, they become so crucial to your creative workflow that being without them almost feels suffocating. This is especially true when you find a great font that supports special characters or fits your brand when you watermark photos. It's straightforward to upload fonts to your library; there's no complicated upload process, simply drag-and-drop a font from your computer to your Font Manager and start using it right away on your photo. Our Text Editor is seamlessly integrated with Google Fonts to expand your options even further, allowing you access to hundreds of additional free typefaces with nothing to install or download! Without leaving BeFunky, you can browse through Google Fonts and add anything that catches your eye with a single click. They'll appear in your font library instantly, ready for you to use on your photo.

When it comes to adding text to images, our free online Text Editor comes with all the settings and tools you need to create the look you're envisioning with just a few clicks! Choose from unlimited color options to find the perfect complementary balance between your text and the background image. Add dramatic effect with rotation, adjust the opacity level, or increase the letter-spacing and line-height. Or, try different font weights, text alignment, and emphasis by making text bold, italicized, or underlined. Use our Curved Text tool to create an arc of text or take the text on your photo full circle. Or, use our Drop Shadow tool to give your text layer a shadow that'll make your text look like it's levitating off your photo. With so many tools and effects available, the possibilities are endless! If you want to use the same text effects in another photo, there's no need to recreate your customized text layers from scratch. Once you have your text layers from one image customized to your liking, easily copy them from your original image and paste them onto multiple photos and projects!

Do you want to make the text into a watermark to keep people from taking your work? It's really easy to do that with Fotor's text editor because it has such a feature: text transparency. Below is a tutorial for you.

Img2Go offers a versatile and easy to use photo editor. Editing images and photos is quickly explained. Also, you do not have to download any program to your computer or app to your phone. All you need for the program to work is an internet connection, which makes it a perfect tool for using it on the go. And above all, it's completely free to use.

Upload the image you want to edit. You can do so in different ways, choosing whichever fits you best. Upload the image by dragging it into the upload box or using one of the buttons to upload from your computer, phone or a cloud storage.
You can also enter a link to edit an image from the internet. The photo editor will load after you did so. Please note that you can only upload one photo at the time to edit it.

Your image will be loaded in the photo editor and you can start editing. Right away, you will see the preview of your image where you can zoom in and out to edit in even more detail. The menu above the photo preview gives you a variety of image editing options such as:
Adding filters, resizing or cropping, adding drawings, text, shapes, stickers and frames, changing the background, and more. Some editing functions will give you further options like line width, color, font style and size, and the like.
Of course, all changes you will do will show up on your image preview.

Click on the "Save" button to open a menu where you can determine which output format to use for your edited image, specify a name, and change the quality and DPI of the image. Click on "Save" one more time to finalize the image editing process.
On the download page, you can easily download your photo, upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive, or even further edit your file.

Resize images, crop parts of the image, mirror or rotate your photos. You can also add rounded corners to your image which stay transparent when saving as an image format that supports transparency (such as PNG or GIF).

We do not obtain any rights on your images and photos. All images are deleted automatically after 24 hours or 10 downloads, whichever comes first. Furthermore, no third-party will ever get access to your files.

For now, I would start by completing the bitmap editor, so to be able to add a text layer to costumes (note: the "write" block is not a full replacement for a costume with text, as the block writes on the pen trails layer and writings are covered by other sprites).

I guess I could offer some pointers to working with the paint editor (I wrote it a long time ago though so I don't know how much help I could be). But I'm curious why you want to add text to the bitmap editor instead of the vector editor?

My goal is adding text to both of them. I would like to give my students an editor that will give them at least the same possibilities as Scratch's (so I guess I have also to add at least the possibility to import pictures) so that they can migrate to Snap having a fully working image editor.

I recommend the "set rotation center" button because it is a good example of a stateful tool that draws some extra content onto a new layer on top of the canvas. Of course you would probably want to first prompt the user for text in a pop-up, and then let them drag around the text until they are ready to commit where to place it.

Entering the text in a popup is a good idea, but, having a single text layer (as in Scratch), the spacing could be important, so maybe a transparent textbox can be necessary. I have then to save the extra information provided by the text so that it will be handled correctly. Any suggestion @jens and @jguille2?

That way, moving the project to another computer without the font wasn't a problem, as long as you didn't edit the text. You could edit the rest of the costume, and even move the text layer, and the text bitmap would remain intact.

Doing something similar to the Scratch 1.4 method for vector images would be a bit more tricky. Some vector editors include black magic to convert text to a path, but I'm pretty sure you need access to the font file itself, and JS doesn't provide that. So the only realistic option to guarantee that text will look the same everywhere is to render it to a bitmap.

include a few pre-selected fonts in Snap!, like Scratch 2.0 and 3.0. That way you can be sure those fonts are available everywhere, and you don't need to include anything in the costume except the font name.
If you don't want to do that, the next best option, at least for the bitmap editor, would be the Scratch 1.4 method. Scratch 1.4 saved a costume's text in 2 parts:

Making it as similar as possible to Scratch 1.4 would basically mean copying all the relevant text properties. But don't worry about making it easy for Snapinator. What was best for Scratch in 2009 probably isn't what's best for Snap! in 2020, and I'll make it convert to whatever you implement.

I need to add bookmarks as text to my images (if possible with certain levels of opacity), currently I have GIMP, Xpaint and Gnome paint drawing editor. But all these are not good for simply adding text and selecting its colour, bold / italic, font and location with ease.

GIMP does somewhat OK at this, but I felt it quite pro for such a basic function. I would like a simple tool which can add text on a image. I used Photoscape in Windows but I am avoiding WINE at the moment.

Adding custom text to your images is a great way to label your images, watermark photos, or just generally give more context to your content. With Kapwing, creators can add custom text to any image in just three clicks.

In Kapwing, use the text tool to add a text box and write what you want your text box to say. Customize your text's font, color, outline, style, position, size, and even animation style and drop shadow effect. Add as many text boxes as you want to your canvas and edit them all however you want. With custom text boxes for photos, you can add vivid descriptions, eye-popping titles, stylish signatures, and even auto-generated subtitles for background audio. Export your image to download it or share it on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter in just a few seconds.

Use the transformer (the dots on the text box outline) to resize the text or drag and drop it to the position you want on top of the video. You can also use the fifth transformer to slightly rotate the text to the perfect angle. Kapwing supports many other text transformations as well, including text opacity and line height. Explore your own creative vision and play around for the perfect look and feel for your video.
