Was really happy to catch the San Francisco show at the Fillmore. Craig Finn opened, and he said that he knows better than try to match Bob for volume, so his set was acoustic, with some help on sax, clarinet and keys. He played a bunch of songs from his new album that had dropped that day.

Hometown show for Bob. Bob and band storm through 27 songs, putting "two hours worth of music into 90 minutes" to quote Bob from the show. Mix of songs from the new album plus some from his recent records and Husker Du classics. The band took a water break at the encore, but didn't leave the stage before kicking into 4 Husker Du songs. There was a slight change up on the encore, "I Apologize" was listed, but skipped, however "Chartered Trips" was added.

John,
Thank you so much for this.
It looks like I will be out of town for my local show. When I saw Jason last fall, I told him how much I appreciate every time I see him because I'll never know when or even if it will happen again. That's looking a bit too prophetic right now because I had to eat my ticket to see him and Michael this past winter too.

The setlists for this tour really seem to be almost all stuff recorded with Jason & John or Husker material. I know I'll love the shows, but I really cut my teeth on early solo and Sugar material.

Having said that, Here We Go Crazy is really growing on me. Can't wait to see him in the Metro.

Pretty impressive set list length. I think the last band tour was maybe 21-22 songs?  Sure I wish he'd pull from some of the lesser played stuff, but I get it. At least he decided to overstuff this tour and not just pick a song from each of the post-2012 albums. I wonder if it will last.

But cmon...let Jason sing the Grant parts in Flip Your Wig already!

Thanks for the recordings John. It was a fun show; amazing how much energy Bob has at 64. Interesting that the set list ignored about 25 years of Bob’s catalog - there was nothing from Workbook or the other early solo albums and no Sugar songs either. The new album sounded good live.

I've seen a few interviews where Bob mentioned that this tour was going to be a celebration of sorts of the John/Jason/Bob years and the material they've put out.  So Silver Age onwards, basically.  Evidently with a bit of the Huskers mixed in, which seems like they all really enjoy playing together.

It was definitely the Jason, Johnny & Bob years show! The new songs definitely sounded better live.

Ultrabomb and Dead Bob announced a show at the Ritz that I will go to. Dead Bob was a lot of fun when I saw them last year.

Was kind of pleased to see the focus on the recent years in one of the recent posts since I’ve suggested that a couple of times.

Just hope it lasts until the European dates as we’re going to the Berlin show.
