I guess my memory is failing too, b/c the first single I remember, was "Changes", borrowed from a room mate that had purchased the Creation EPs as they were released.   Maybe there was a different order betw UK and US? I'm too lazy to research it.

"Changes" was definitely the first SUGAR track I heard, though.

Just checked Discogs, and the Changes CD single was indeed released right before the Copper Blue CD (Aug. vs. Sep.).

I distinctly remember hearing If I Can't Change Your Mind on WXRT 93.1 FM radio while driving in Glenview, Illinois. Instantly hooked.

Pretty sure that the Helpless CD single was the first Sugar release in the US, sometime summer 1992.

That's what I remember too.  Helpless, with Needle Hits E as the "Beside".

Changes was 1st single release in the UK. A Good Idea and IICCYM were the only other CB single releases in the UK.

Yeah, Helpless wasn't a single in the UK

Without checking I'm thinking that A Good Idea was the second UK single.

Score one for the memory, just checked and it was. A bit odd to hold back IICCYM until third as it's arguably the song with the widest appeal.

Also remember that the initial Changes release was pretty low key but that things took off when they got prominent features in the UK press shortly afterwards.

Fairly sure I was reading the Melody Maker piece at the time waiting for my now wife to turn up the night I proposed!
